So - what's happening ? Off and on since yesterday afternoon, I've felt a very *small* gush of fluid.

Not enough to even soak a pad, though definitely enough to wet it.

Just happens at random intervals - without any feeling of bladder fullness or urge to urinate. Though, I readily admit that my bladder control is all for naught lately.

So - what do you ladies think ?
Just pee'ing myself ?
Or a tiny, slow, taunting, leak ?

If it has a sweet smell to it, I'm told that's indicative of fluid. I can't remember if you're having this little one at home or not....

It's very easy to test if you can get ahold of one of those strips they use at the hospitals to see if it's amniotic fluid or not. If it is a leak though, & you're planning on a hospital delivery, I'd recommend not going in until in a regular contraction pattern. They'll put you on a time table that could end up making you have a c/s.

oh my god, you sound just like I did! I had this "leak" for 4 days and walked all over town telling everyone "oh, how funny, I'm peeing myself because the baby's on my bladder" but um, it wasn't pee. Nothing bad happened though. On the fourth day the "pee" turned pinkish which I noticed and I had some very mild cramping. I called the hospital and told them about the cramping and the "pee" and they asked me to come in. They checked with a ph strip (I've heard you can buy these to use at home) and it was indeed amniotic fluid. In retrospect, I was glad I waited a few days before coming in because they might have wanted to induce me. I don't know if you're having a home or hospital birth but you might not want to take any baths right now in case it is your fluid which I bet it is.

good luck,

Homebirth.

Can't tell the scent, because there is inevitably some pee on the pad too I can't cough, laugh, sneeze, get tickled, stand up, etc without peeing a bit.

When my water broke, I noticed that the fluid was a bit slippery, plus more clear than urine. However, mine kept leaking, so it was pretty obvious.

When you lay down for an extended period of time amniotic fluid would pool in the vagina. So if you are getting these trickles/gushes when you stand up (and you are not coughing or jumping up and down at the time) it is probably a slow leak. Otherwise if it is totally random, might be peeing!
What does your MW say, or do you not want to tell her?

Oh, Liza...you sound just like me I can't even vote because I have the same kind of thing. I *think* mine is pee, because I have very little bladder control left, but it totally feels like a fluid leak. But the pooling thing TattooedMama mentioned is probably quite true, so that should be the telltale sign.

Yeah, I was just going to mention the "pooling" thing as well. Try resting for about half an hour and then stand up to see if fluid leaks. I've heard of situations where the baby's head can block the cervix preventing fluid from leaking out unless you move in a certain way and it manages to escape past baby's head. By lying down for a little while and then standing up, you should be able to get a better idea as to what's going on.

Sorry if it's just pee!!!!!!!
