Hi all -
Just got back from the doctor and wanted to vent a little about what is going on. I haven't posted here much, but I am now 41 weeks 2 days and am feeling a little down.
As of today, I have no dialation and my cervix is still long, though they say it is soft. I have not seen any mucous or bloody show (though I know not everyone sees it). They are sending me to L & D tonight for an NST, and if everything is ok with baby, they are going to ripen my cervix with some gel. They'll check me tomorrow, and ripen me some more if needed. If this doesn't kick start labor, then I will be induced on Thursday.
I am ok with the induction, though it is far from what I had hoped my son's birth to be. I am hoping this "ripening" will bring labor on and induction won't be needed, but I am also happy to know that he will be in my arms by the weekend. But I am scared...I'm afraid he has been needing to come out and my body has been remiss in it's duties. They said that perhaps he hasn't been able to descend into my pelvis properly so hasn't been able to stimulate my cervix. Every wiggle from him tells me he's doing ok, which makes me all that more anxious to have him out and with us.
Has anyone here had any experience with this "ripening"? This is my first baby.
