how can you tell when your baby drops, or is it not really possible.

Some women can tell. With ds#1 I felt him get lower and lower.

I have never been able to tell on my own but then again I have never really looked for it. I had a friend that told me each time my babies have dropped or I would never have known. I am thinking I will figure it out on my own this time because I am carrying so high!

With my first, I just noticed I could breathe a bit easier. I didn't really notice a drop per say. I think it happened about 2 weeks or so before my water broke.

My heartburn got slightly better, the shape of my belly changed, and I suddenly had a LOT of pressure down below! I think you'll know

You should also know that many times the baby doesn't drop until labor - especially if you have already had a baby. The first may drop, and then the next won't. This is completely normal and expected.

I was just wondering about this today. This little girlie has been riding high, that is until today. I noticed this morning that my bump didn't seem to be as high as usual. And I can actually bend over a little better today. I had been feeling like I was suffocating each time I bent down to pick something up, but not today. But wouldn't 30 weeks be a bit early to have the baby drop?

Sometimes your baby down "drop" all at one time. It can come in stages, so while the baby may be decending into the pelvis more, the lightening may not be complete for another couple of months. Not to comfortable though.

This is my first baby, so I don't really know what dropping feels like. Does dropping feel different from carrying low? Is dropping specifically when the head engages in the pelvis?

My baby has been sitting very low all throughout the pregnancy. She's been hanging out on my pelvis and below my belly button almost the entire time. I've had lots of pressure and pain related to the babe's position (sacroiliac, pelvic floor, hips, etc) since pretty early on.

It's only been in the past week or that she's moved upwards, and I'm feeling kicks and rolls and bumps all the way up under my ribs.

When she drops, will it feel differently than when I was simply carrying low?

is it too early for my baby to have dropped yet. because i can feel babies head under my pelvic bone. which seems really low to me.

My baby is really low right now too and I can really feel it as well. They tell me he has not "dropped" yet but is low.

I really feel like the baby dropped. I know it's early but the kicks and movements have been high, under my ribs, until yesterday. Now she is definitely all down under and feeling super low. KWIM? There's no more rib kicks. My first one never dropped so I am not really sure. What's the consensus here...too early to drop at 30 weeks?

personally i don't think so, in my first pregnancy dd dropped at 28-29 weeks, when i went into preterm labor. i think my baby has definetly dropped.

With dd1 she dropped, head down, and engaged at around 30-32 weeks. She wasn't born until 39 weeks, and when she came out her head was all coned and lopsided from being in the *ready* position for 8-10 weeks

Yea it looks like from this thread and the other one on going this topic now that a lot of us are in the same boat here, with a number of issues. Phew!
