Low supply - to use Dom or not

For those of you with low supply who considered using Dom - what made you decide to go ahead and use it - or what made you decide against it? If you decided to use it, how long were you on it? What was your supply like after you stopped using it compared to what it had been before?

Thanks so much for any input!

I have been on Dom for 7 months now and plan to take it until dd weans. I decided to because I only had about 16 ounces left in the freezer ( I was supplementing 1 bottle a day from my previous abundant supply) I knew I was not goign to go to formula if I could in anyway avoid it so Dom it was. I started on 30mg a day and am now at 60mg. I am lucky that I respond so well to it

i chose to use it because none of the other things i tried boosted my supply (herbs, lactogenic foods, acupuncture) enough that i could stop supplementing. i took it for about 2 months and it also did not significantly boost my supply, even at the higher doses.

I've got twin brain, so their first year was a blur. I think I started using it at about 6 months of their life. I tw as just SO discouraged by my lack of progress with pumping, so I decided to bite the bullet and just try it. I seem to recall that my pumping output increased by at least 50% (I pumped at work and nursed at night) and the direct nursing was much more pleasant -- I just hated that "dry nursing" raspy tongue feeling.
I started with 60 mg, was on a max of 100 mg daily. Now I'm down to 20 mg (at 20 months), and am so glad that it was available for me to use.

I would recommend you try it, if everything else has failed. I think it can definitely improve the breastfeeding relationship in the right circumstances.
