Dallas Child is doing a piece titled 'Portrait of a Modern Birth' and is looking for a family that is due in the next two weeks.
Assignment: Photo essay of childbirth, from beginning stages of labor to first nuzzle at breast
Premise: A photo journalistic essay of a mother (and her family) going through the process of giving birth, especially one that highlights some of the modern trends in childbirth, such as family members (grandparents, older children) present for the delivery, hypnobirthing, use of doula or midwife, cord blood collection, breastfeeding right away, etc. The images should be tasteful, but show the reality of childbirth (pain, frustration, elation, etc.).
Parameters are:
a family planning for a vaginal, hospital birth and must include one or all of the following:
midwife
doula
cord blood banking
hypnobirthing
(I don't know if I'm stepping over boundaries with the following info-so feel free to change as needed)
I am their cover photographer and was just voted Dallas' Favorite Photographer (*blush*)...I shoot 6-8 births a year but don't have one in my files that fits these parameters along with a family that wants their pictures published. And so, we are looking for someone due SOON to participate.
Their blog will feature a request for participants over the next few days, but I asked for a head start in finding families...and so am posting here.

In exchange I will compile a birth slideshow and give you a dvd copy as well as put a copy online for you to share with family and friends.
