Spoon feed or dropper of EBM? Help!

Our dd has some major tummy issues. The naturopathic doctor wants her taking probiotics, a GI powder and L-Glutamine. The probiotics aren't much of a problem because I just stick it to my finger and put it in her mouth. But the other two we need about 1/4 of a teaspoon of EACH a day!

I was very reluctant to introduce a bottle because I didn't feel that she was ready (I wasn't either!), but now we have to do something because there's no other way to get these into her.

We tried introducing a bottle last week, but she absolutely FLIPPED OUT! Screaming and so incredibly mad that it wasn't my boob. It took her a while to calm down after too.

So I don't feel like we're going to get anywhere with the bottle. She won't take a paci either, just wants to suck on my finger. She's very particular...

Should we keep trying the bottle? I don't want to push her. The naturopathic doctor (also my midwife) suggested spoon feeding or using a dropper. It would take me forever to get these into her with either of those, but if it would work, I'd do it. However, how to you keep her from choking on it? It's not like she's sucking on anything, so I'm afraid if I just dump it in her mouth she'll start choking.

Any ideas or thoughts?

Thanks

My LC had us using a tiny plastic medicine cup, like the ones they use when they bring you pills in the hospital. Any pharmacy should have them in stock. Good luck!

I would (and did) use a finger feeder, way less of a hassle.

I have special needs baby. He takes 5 mls of 2 differant types of meds 2x's a day. We tried everything to get the meds into him. It ended always in a big screaming fest. Finally I got the grand idea to use just the nipple of a bottle. So i went and bought a fast flow playtex "nurser" type nipple. We squirt the meds in there, he sucks them back and thats it, no fussing on his part and that is the only time he will toucha rubber nibble. To this day he won't take a bottle. He refuses. But he will take his meds so I get the best of both worlds! I have a ebf baby, and he still gets the medicine he needs! I hope this helps, and good luck. BTW my baby is now 4 months old.
