Whose voices do you just love, who are just so unique that they make you sit up and take notice?

Mine are:

1) James Earl Jones: I once read something that said his voice was the closest you could get to Gods voice. I agree!
2) Hugo Weaving ("V for Vendetta") - his voice as "V" was just mesmerizing
3) Dolly Parton: shes so funny and down to earth, I just love her accent
4) Gerry Butler: love his Scottish accent
5) Sean Connery: speaking of Scottish accents!

1) Alan Rickman (beautiful deep voice!!)
2) Ciarin Hinds (Persuasion)
3) Matthew McFayden

And basically anyone with a Scottish accent!!

Liam Neeson (Think Aslan...'nuff said)
James Earl Jones (I second that!)
Garrison Keillor (Not much to look at, but has the perfect voice for storytelling)
Brian Blessed (Augustus from 'I, Claudius' and played the Duke of Exetor in 'Henry V' w/ Kenneth Branaugh)

Patrick Stewart.

Many of the ones you've already mentioned, and also Leonard Cohen. His voice is so smoky and deep.

1) Alan Rickman, I never read any of the HP books (completely refused) until I saw AR playing Snape, one "bewitch the mind and ensnare the senses" speech and I immediately bought all the books.

2) Garrison Keilor, I have a bit of a crush on him.

3) Henry Rollings, I have a CD of his diaries from when he was in Black Flag and it is mesmerising.

Another vote for James Earl Jones ... he does an audiobook version of The Bible ... I haven't heard it but - and not to be disrespectful - all I can think of whenever I see it is: "Jesus, I am your Father."

Other than that, let's see:

1. Frank Muller - he's an audiobook reader and has done everything from Stephen King to Herman Melville to John Grisham to F. Scott Fitzgerald to Tony Hillerman
2. Scott MacFarlane - the voice of Peter, Stewie and Brian Griffin in Family Guy
3. Jim Dale - who is the audiobook reader of the Harry Potter novels
4. Patrick Stewart
5. Sean Connery
and
6. Tim Curry

A great voice can make up for a plain face, at least with me. :

In no particular order...

Bob Ross from the old The Joy of Painting show on PBS. He had an amazingly soothing voice.

Patrick Stewart
Sean Bean
Alan Rickman
Russell Crowe
Ciarán Hinds
Nigella Lawson
Avery Brooks who played Captain Sisko on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. I could listen to him read a phone book!
Andreas Katsulas who played G'kar on Babylon 5
Kelsey Grammar

Not to mention Branaugh's Hamlet and the first season of Black Adder

I also love Ciarin Hinds and Alan Rickman.
Patrick Stewart
Stephen Fry
Will Self (I've been to 3 of his readings and could listen to him all day)
Jeremy Irons
Gerard Depardieu (speaking French only)
Marcello Mastroianni (speaking Italian only)
I also have a fondness for Toshiro Mifune for some odd reason
And a former French professor of mine but I don't think he's famous yet.

But really, if Alan Rickman just wanted to come and read me bedtime stories every night I know I'd died and gone to heaven.

I wish Alan Rickman lived with me. "Will it be pancakes or.....OATMEAL for breakfast". He can make the mundane sound amazingly sexy.
