My EDD today & appt

Hello all,
Had my 40 week appt today. Never had one of those before! DD came the day before her 40 week appt.

My mw checked baby's position really thoroughly and she thinks that baby is kind of corkscrewed into a weird OP position (head is sunny side up and most of it's back, but then it's hips turn into a sideways position so that when I thought I was feeling a butt, it was really a hip). So I've condemned myself to washing the floors on hands and knees this afternoon and doing a ton of pelvic rocks.

My cervix is still 1.5 cm and very soft (no change in 4 weeks). The only thing that's going to get things moving in the right direction for me is to get this baby in a good position. And I don't want to go through back labor.

Everything else checked out ok- my bp is 130/70, baby's hr is fine, etc.

So I'll break out the knee pads! I'll update you all more hopefully when I start getting some early labor signs.

My kidlet seems to have similar plans She's been LOP, then periodically will flip to ROT and back again, but doesn't seem to want to hang out anterior much at all.

Last week's appt for me was w/ a midwife that I don't end up seeing as often as the other two in the practice. She thought the baby's head was kinda occiput anterior, and the rest of the body sort of flopped over a bit. She didn't seem concerned.

I go in again tomorrow and I'll be 40 weeks on friday. Like you, I suspect not much will happen until she flips or something. I had a lot of action a few days ago, accompanied by nausea etc. and now things have calmed down entirely.

I spent a lot of time on all 4s over my ball tonight...no matter what I do, this child refuses to get anterior, i swear!!

I hope the floor scrubbing isn't too exhausting I've been doing a lot of that too :

Can you get in a chiro visit? Maybe that would help...

Um, enjoy the floor scrubbing? It oughta help, anyways...

Yeah, rest

Lilcrunchie, I hope for both of our sakes that our babies decide to get down to business soon with this position stuff! Talk about stubborn kids

Mamajava, tomorrow will be my third chiro visit in the last week. I thought it helped to open my pelvis a little bit when baby was obviously straight on OP last week, but I guess the little one decided to settle into a less obvious OP position. I'll see what my chiro can help with tomorrow...I figure this kid is coming out either way, but I'd rather it be sooner rather than later and face down rather than face up!!!

Thanks guys for reading and responding.

Rachelle-I'm doing chiro too. I have been for about 3 weeks now. It has helped get my sacroiliac joint/pelvis/pubic symphysis aligned much better and I'm in less discomfort, but it doesn't seem to be getting my baby to go LOA. Sigh. Why won't she cooperate??? I hope this isn't predictive of her future temperment LOL.

Best of luck to you!!!

Babyflipping...

Yep. Woke up at 5AM and had a compelling urge to mop the floors in the bathroom and kitchen. Oh joy! I think I'll do the hands and knees thing upstairs next.

Every time we go the mw, the baby is steadfastly on the right side. Fortunately, she's got her back a bit centered. But she does move to the left! It seems that she'll only do it when I am NOT with my mw! My last appt. was on Monday and as we were driving down the road, she flipped left. I said to my dh, "Quick, let's turn around!" I so wanted to show my mw that the baby will move!

I had a massage on Tuesday and a chiro visit on Wednesday. You'd think that would get things moving? Not yet...

If only I can get her to move DOWN onto my cervix! Oh well. The weather is nice tonight and there's a nice light's display at the local Botanical Gardens...so I think we'll go check that out just so I can get some more walking in!

Good luck!
