U.S. troops shot dead at least 13 Iraqis during an anti-American protest in the town of Falluja overnight, witnesses said on Tuesday, in bloodshed sure to inflame anger at the U.S. presence in Iraq.

This is something the US troops are going to have to figure out how to deal with, because I have a feeling protests will increase as time goes by ... and the troops have to find other ways to deal.

If they were indeed shot at, well, that's different, but then the situation is still impossible, because no matter whether they were shot at, or rocks were thrown (as I heard on NPR this morning), they will still be condemned for any response other than turning their tails and hiding in the building.

Marg, I'm not taking any sides in this one, not assuming the official line is what actually happened, but just wondering: What would you do if you were being shot at from a crowd?

I would hope that they could use something like tear gas, rubber bullets, I don't know?? If it is just one stray bullet coming from a crowd firing on them is sooooo wrong........
