This is not a brag...

I am not here to make anyone feel bad or brag...but as each of us strive toward reducing debt I want to share with you.

As of Jan 06 here is what we owed...cc debt 14000.00, truck 16000.00, van 8900.00, camper 1900.00 and ATV 2500.00. We used our farm income money, and tax money to pay down some. Then we joined consumer credit counseling for the cc bills. We were both working full time and barely making it. In Oct I had taken a job that was HORRIBLE. I walked out one day and didn't go back. No savings and big time debt.

Move forward to Nov. My great granny who I loved very much and apparently loved me very much passed away and left me some money. My other grandma decided she didn't want me to have to go back to fulltime work so I could be with my boys paid off my van.

SO....we now owe 7000.00 on our truck and that is it!!!!!!!!!!!! For the first time in our married life we have one small vehicle payment and our house. My dh's company just LOWERED their insurance rates so we went on his insurance and I know work 24 hours per week at a residental care facility at a job I love. We will NEVER allow ourselves to get back in that shape. It was stupid and irresponsible. And we'd still be there if it wasn't for my family. However, we've learned a huge lesson. Now when I shop second hand and bulk it is fun. I know the benefits of wearing second hand and cooking at home...being with my kids!!!!!!!!!!!

Very cool! I hope to get there one day when we get a small lump sum that is coming to us in a month or two. We never want our finances to get out of control after that at all. Smooth sailing from here on...I hope!!!

Thank you all!!! I feel like I'm on cloud nine. I think the key is wanting to be debt free not just knowing you should be IYKWIM. When I was racking up CC debt I knew I shouldn't be using the CC but would do it anyway. Now we don't even own a CC and makes me sick to ever think of having one again. I hope each of you are able to get to this point. Not worrying about debt every other minute leaves your mind free to concentrate on good things...dh, kids, home etc
