I wouldn't care in the least if she or he was a good teacher that didn't being their past into the classroom.

I don't watch Dr Phil, just answering the question.

Oh, and I was a dancer (of the stripper variety) for a while, and I homeschool - am I a bad influence?

Honestly, as long as she was a good teacher it would be fine with me.

Well, as long as it didn't come up during show and tell or something I wouldn't care.

If the porn movies are being watched by her students....why are they watching porn movies? I think the parents have messed up priorities if they are more worried about the teacher being IN porn movies than they are about their kids WATCHING porn movies.

I'm not disgusted by sex nor am I concerned that my child's teacher might have had consentual sex with another adult before.

As a matter of fact his current teacher has 4 kids!!

*gasp!!*

It wouldn't bother me at all. She is a grown woman and can make whatever choices she wants in her private time. As long as she's not talking about it with students or something, then it's alright. Her life, her body, her choice. The parent should be talking with their children about the porn instead of the teacher. What were they doing with it anyways?

My thoughts exactly.

It wouldn't bother me......as long as she'd left the porn persona behind.

Ok so she did that in the "past" but i don't care, i wouldn't want her to be any kind of influence for my child. The porn movies are being watched by the same children she was teaching, i'm glad they fired her and i don't think she should be aloud to go back. Boy am i so glad i homeschool. : Sorry for the rant, maybe i shouldn't watch Dr. Phil but darnit i like the show:
It discussed you? why were you brought up for discussion on the Dr Phil show on ex porn stars turned teacher?

And why would her students be watching her porn movies? :

Why are minors watching porn movies? Parents need to parent not the teacher.

But, perhaps if you looked deeper....what if it was that kind of teacher who might have paid for her education by participating in the adult film industry? That kind of teacher who may also have been a single mother doing the best she could for her children in an industry that gave her flexibility to be at home with them? Or simply that kind of teacher who simply was a porn star in the past and now has dedicated her life to the education of young people?

I really don't see how it has a bearing on whether or not she's an effective teacher. I know of one former porn star who is an amazingly upstanding citizen and wonderful mother--I don't think it's fair to judge someone simply by their past. IMO, if the parents of school-aged children let their children have access to porn, there are more important issues at hand.

But, everyone obviously has different values and opinions. FTR, I am not a former or current porn star. I really just don't like Dr. Phil

I'd be fine with a former (or current) sex worker teaching my child as long as they were a good teacher.

and I would MUCH rather catch my daughter watching porn than watching Dr. Phil.
