I'm going to be in my second semester at a university majoring in English Education. I have a husband, house, and a 5 year old daughter.

When I was 17 years old and lived on the streets I was a prostutite. Does anyone really think that I am going to bring that into my classroom? What if a former john has his child in my class and recognizes me? Should I lose my job because of HIS indiscretion over almost 20 years ago?

It would not bother me if my child's teacher was a former or current porn star, because it has no relevance to her current status as a college graduate and licensed teacher. I would be far more concerned if she graduated at the bottom of her class, was mean, or insensitive to her students.

Aren't there more important things we as parents of homeschoolers or public schoolers should be worrying about?

A portion of this thread was split off because it had devolved into a debate on the moral merits or porn, judgments on members, and was moving toward a discussion of sexual orientation. *heck as a SAHM I sometimes feel like a prostitute... not that my husband would ever try to make me this way, but you know... guilt sex for blowing the budget.*

It would not bother me if it were female teacher. There are many adults out there doing horrid things to children,and they do not have the slightest negative mark in their background.

I too am concerned about the *boys* watching porn movies,because this may impact their treatment of female students.And certainly they could not function normally in THAT teachers class. What if anything was done to address the young adults and porn exposure? Did any education come out of this matter,or did they simply dismiss the teacher and brush the rest under the rug?

I have to say it wouldnt bother me. As long as it doesnt coem up in class, then I think it has no bearing on her ability to teach. I have some really UGLY things in my past, drugs etc and probably should be dead or in jail and in this I find I can be a better mother honestly because I know the kind of pain or experience a child could go through. All of the stuff in my past is right where it should be-IN THE PAST. Just as I am sure the teachers porn history would be.

I cant believe the audacity of some people who would judge her on that sort of thing-people who WATCH the porn or have sketchy things in their past as well. It really blows my mind when people forget that they too indeed are human.

Although since nearly 20 years have past since my FOUR month career as a prostitute, I can't say I am doing anything grand by admitting it.

No one in my life knows about my experience except my immediate family and my husband. I think a lot would be said about it if anyone currently in my life found out. It was only recently that I told ONE co-worker that I had a son when I was 18. There is no way I would devulge this info or info regarding my twins who were adopted to anyone in my current life. The risk of judgment (that is in your face real) is far to great.

I'm sure my husband would be excited if he found out DS' teacher was a former porn star Maybe then he wouldn't mind going to parent-teacher conferences.
