I never knew...

Thread Starter
Up until the past year, I never knew:

... how many times I could pee in one day/night.
... how many pairs of pants I would go through as my belly got big.
... how proud I would be of my enormous belly!
... how weird the remarks would get about bellies, labor, babies and the relative comfort or temperature of my newborn.
... how much active labor and pushing would HURT, despite my amazing ability to withstand pain.
... how quickly my belly and feet would deflate after delivery.
... how hungry a nursing mother can get.
... how wonderful nursing is!
... how wonderful cosleeping is!
... how much hair I could lose in one day... :
... how many diapers and wipes we would go through.
... how I would want to befriend nearly any woman with a child near in age to mine, regardless of how much we had in common.

How 'bout y'all?

I never knew...

-How much fun it is to try to conceive, wait, and celebrate the positive tests!
-How sick and miserable I would feel with my second pregnancy
-That you can justify wearing the same pair of pants day in and out just because they're comfortable.
-How scared I would be for my epidural-I was terrified. And I'd had one before too! I guess I'm just a chicken.
-How FAST my second labor and delivery would go! 5 hours!
-That I could possibly love a second child as much as my first.
-How much my love for DH would grow as our family grew.
-How much more I appreciate my parents now that I'm a mom!
-How much I adore the little things my kids do: DS1 chews with his WHOLE FACE and it makes me laugh every time, DS2 makes a perfect little triangle with his mouth when he's startled or thinking about something really hard. LOL!
-How much harder I would work at my job because my children motivate me to do so.

Great thread!!! Can't wait to read more....

I never knew:
- how much I would LOVE pregnancy AND birthing my baby girl!
- I could love a human being so much.
- that I would be so doggone earthy crunchy!
- that I would have my best conversations with a 15 week old!
- that I could be so afraid of leaving or losing someone.
- that time would fly so fast.
- that maternal guilt was so strong.
- that 9 months pregnancy would be considered a good nights sleep in retrospect.
- that one little smile could change my whole day, even at 2 am.

Not part of your DDC, but couldn't resist

I never knew...

-how much a little person that you never met changes you
-how patience grows upon a person just when it's needed
-unconditional love before
-how uncomfortable the 3rd child pregnancy really is (this is my 6th pg)
-how quickly you start showing with the 3rd
-how you truly love your 2nd child as much as the 1st, but in different ways
-you never stop checking their breathing after their 1st birthday
-the dreaded 2www doesn't stop there
-how the 2www turns into the 12 www during pg, then the 1 year wait for the chance of SIDS to end
-you really can get away with eating whatever you want, whenever you want because you're pg
-the anticiapation with subsequent pregnancies is just as great as the 1st

...that a third son would be just as unique in his own right as the other two.

...that the sound of laughter could motivate the same silly action a thousand times just to hear it again.

...that seeing those fresh eyes clear from sleep is almost as sweet as seeing them the first time.

...that my DH would just become a more sweet, open hearted Father with each baby.

...that 3 hours of sleep can feel 'refreshing'.

...that the same buns you're changing for the thousandth time that day are STILL as adorable as they were weeks ago.

...that 0-3m clothes aren't worth buying at all - 6m clothing is more worth my money with chunky boys.

...that bath time could be SO much stinking fun with a wiggly, joyful baby.

There could be so much more...
