Just wondering how things were going for you? Did the baby stay breech or is it head down now?? Sara
post #2 of 9
Hi Sara, thanks for asking about me!

I saw the MW this morning, and she said baby still felt breech. I see the OB tomorrow, and we'll see what he says. My MW said she'd be very happy if she is wrong . She's shown me where she thinks baby's head is, and she said to feel for it before I go to my appt. tomorrow. I hope she's wrong, and that baby is head-down. This is the only thing I'm worried about, and why I don't want to go into labor yet, since my MW won't do a breech birth.

Let's hope she's wrong !

Mollie, I hope the baby turns again for you. I am so afraid they are going to tell me tomorrow mine has flipped back to breech, or transverse, or oblique. It would be wonderful if we could both get some good news tomorrow!

Will your ob do a breech birth? The ob my midwife works with won't and neither will my midwife.

Mollie, I hope your midwife is wrong too. Or if she's right that it flips before then. When mine was still breech, my midwife explained some things to me about how to tell if it was head down or breech....she said if the part you feel at the top of the uterus is a head, and you gently move it back and forth, only the head would move, whereas if it's a butt the whole body would move when you moved the butt....I don't know if you have a fetascope, but if you do, you could try to see where you hear the heart....when mine was breech it was up a fair amount above my belly button, but now that it's head down, the heart beat is just below my belly button. I know how hard it is to wait/wonder and it's also scary!!

Please let us know what the OB says. Have you tried any breech turning tricks? I couldn't physically do the tilt board thing, my head just got too dizzy when I tried it. I just kept praying. My midwife said one of her mamas kept envisioning dolphins diving and pictured her baby doing that to turn to head down, and it worked for her...hope something works for you.

Take care, Sara

I can't to the tilt board thing either. I've been doing some other on all fours tilts, with my rear up in the air. The kids keep asking what's wrong with me when I do that . If the OB says baby is breech, I'm going to try the chiro with the Webster technique, and as a very last resort, an ECV with the OB. I'm so afraid that the ECV would cause labor to start, and then I'd be stuck there .

I'll try the visualizing & talking to baby. SOMETHING's gotta work!! My MW also said that there's still lots of room, and she could almost turn baby herself a little bit when she was palpating my belly. So I'm not giving up hope just yet!

Update from today

I'm back from my appointment with the OB (I'm seeing both a MW & an OB, and planning a HB). I felt baby's position this morning, and it was the same as yesterday. The OB said baby was head down, and that I'm 3 cm dilated, and baby was still really high. So I guess that's good news! He only felt my belly for a few seconds, and said that what I was feeling was the butt (where we thought the head was). He also asked if I wanted him to sweep my membranes, which I said NO, I'm waiting for labor to start on its own : : . Sooooo glad he won't be at the birth !!

I guess the MW was wrong, but it's good to be wrong sometimes !

Hey, that's great!
Do you have a birth ball to sit on (when your kids are asleep ) to help get the baby moving downward? The further down it is the less likely it's going to flip, right?

I think so. I don't have a birth ball, but I'm going to do a lot of squatting and such now to see if baby can get lower. My last 2 haven't "dropped" before labor, but they were lower than this at this point.
