I love being a SAHM!!!!!

Thread Starter

This morning it was freezing cold out and we had gotten a weird mix of light snow, sleet and freezing rain. The roads were slick and it was windy and cold. I didn't have to drag ds out in it. I didn't have to drive my car around in it. We had a nice relaxed hot breakfast and his friend from down the street came over to play.

Everyday I feel blessed to be able to stay home with my ds. But on days like today I REALLY appreciate that I have the option to be a SAHM.

Do you ever have days like that?

Yes!

We went through a cold snap recently with wind chills down to -40 and I was so happy not to have to go out in the mornings. I must admit, though, that when I went out to pick up DS from the bus stop in the afternoons I was seriously leaning towards homeschooling!

Around here, lots of days are like that!

What I like about staying home is that there isn't that worry of what to do if school is out for snow days, sick days, etc.
When I worked (with my first child) if she got sick then either me of my dh had to make some type of arrangements for child care (which I found stressful). So now I'm glad not to have that stress (but I do have others ).

Totally! I've always done better with some degree of flexibility in my life...one of the things I loved about college was being able to choose my own class schedule, as opposed to the regimented life I had in high school. I always built in a long siesta time midday when I could.

Anyway, it's so great being able to pretty much decide from day to day what DS and I are going to do. I do create a rough plan for the week, but if I'm extra tired or DS is cranky, or as with the OP, if the weather is frightful, it's so nice to be able to change things up at the last minute.

"What's the matter, cranky baby? Awww. Well, the laundry can wait....let's schnuggle!"

Oh yes.....

I have a 15 month DS whose just perfect in my eyes and I am pregnant with my second. Today wasn't a good day for me, feeling nauseating and just TIRED. I told DS around 10:30am that Mommy's tired and sleepy, and he actually let me sleep! I woke up in an hr or so finding him napping beside me.

I feeel guilty for not playing with him but I seriously passed out!

I guess my point is that I don't have to ask a boss for sick leave or explain what morning sickness is!

I think of that every time one of them is sick. I don't have to worry about calling into work or sending them to school sick. I can stay home with them and take care of them with no guilt! That is great!

Yes! Winter I am always like that! I love not having to get up and get myself and my kids ready to go somewhere! A couple Fridays ago, hubby and I took the day off to go Christmas shopping, so my SIL watched the girls, and I was going crazy having to get all 3 ready to go somwhere on time!!!

Well, dd is 11, and this is the second year we have homeschooled, and when it's freezing and the roads are bad, etc. Wow! I feel so grateful that we can snuggle up and have hot chocolate and just hang out all day and we never have to go anywhere that we don't want to.
Also, dd is in a wheelchair so the snow is even more of a pain and then when it is freezing when you are trying to get her in the car and her wheelchair too, etc. I'd rather stay home any day.
I do not miss those days.

Also, dd needs a lot of sleep at night and I am a night owl, so it is ideal for both of us that we can sleep in until 10 am, 11 am, or noon, whenever we want

Oh, and I must say, it gives dh a great deal of peace of mind to be able to go to work and not worry about us having to travel the roads in the early morning, in the middle of winter.

Ya, I don't take that stuff for granted, ever.
