Life with a babe 12/04

whoa, we are slowing down in this ddc! it's midweek and i just noticed there wasn't a life with babe thread (or did i miss it??)... guess life with a babe is busy for folks!

here on the homefront isa is almost 16 weeks now! we have our 4 mo wbv next week and will get another vax : hope it goes well again.

she is super vocal now and its hilarious. and she decides to pipe up when my dh is making business calls from home! all sorts of fun consenant sounds too... i just keep waiting for mama to slip out but not yet! i think she is gonna walk before she crawls too. she has NO interest in tummy time but if you are holding her she insists on standing up and bouncing around.

i think she *may* be getting better at napping but it's super hit or miss. she went for over a week taking great 2-3hr naps every afternoon but now we're back to the same ole anti-napping routine. hmmm. she still sleeps for 8-10 stretches at night though : so i won't complain, i swear!

We really have slowed down in our DDC!!

I sing a lot to Arienne - NOT because I like to (I hate singing and I have a TERRIBLE voice) but cos when she's over tired and upset it calms her, and on the odd occasion I just sing along to something that's on the radio and she loves it, and now she sings along too!!!!!! Well in her baby talk way, it's the sweetest thing.

Over the past week and a half she's grown a great interest for her toys, she can't grab them or anything yet (I've read it happens round 3mnths and she was 2 last week) but if you move them or put them in front of her she loves it! And she got weighed yesterday she's now 5.260kgs!! (Which is 11.6llbs!) She was 6.13llbs when she was born! She's just growing so quickly, it seems like just the other day I had her

She also hates tummy time, likes floortime on her back, I try put her down at least once a day to air out without a nappy and give her a massage. I've brought her 2 xmas presents so far, an amber teething necklace and a toy called a "Toddle" which are fantastic. The teething necklace reminds me, last night she started to vigorously chew on my finger, I've never put my fingers in her mouth before ever, she kinda launched at it, there was no sucking just chewing, so she definatly wasn't confused and trying to feed but it's meant to be way WAY to early for her to be teething so I don't know whats up with that - Anyone elses babe doing it???

ayla is 15 lbs 4 oz!! she isn't growing as fast as she was but shes still doing well. i sing to her to put her to sleep also and she sings/whines along...i think it helps her calm down also its kinda cute and i am guessing that she will learn to put herself to sleep by singing to herself!!

busy busy busy here although at the end of the day i am not sure what i even did!!

It's great to hear how other babies are doing. I feel bad I haven't been posting. I started back to work about 6 wks ago and feel like I never have a second of extra time. We're doing all our own child care as well as both working - it's insane!

Tonight I'm home without baby for the first time since she was born. I feel like I'm playing hookie!

Shayla rolled over the other day, from her stomach to her back. We were very excited, although she hasn't repeated it and now cries madly every time I put her on her stomach.

She smiles readily now, which melts my heart. She just went through a growth spurt, right at 12 weeks. That was hard - it was like she was a newborn again, nursing constantly and crying a lot. It only lasted about 4 days, but it showed us how far we've really come.

Connor is such a little sweetie baby, I am so in love with him. He is a social guy who really only needs someone cooing & smiling at him to make him happy, and he'll give lovely little grins to anyone who talks to him. He's been discovering all these new noises he can make - blowing bubbles is big lately - and will occasionally giggle at himself after making some particularly satisfying sounds.

Rolled over once tummy to back, and can get all the way over to his side from his back, but isn't super interested in rolling. When I take his diaper off he kicks and kicks like crazy, though! He's also starting to really get into pushing with his feet and standing.

Naptimes are short, usually no more than 45-50 minutes, but he goes down for the night around 6:30 or 6:45 and I don't usually hear from him until 11 or 12. And sleeps until 7am! We switched up our sleeping arrangements last weekend and are giving it a one-week trial to see how it works out. After over a year of trying to get ds1 (who will be 3 in Jan) to sleep through the night in his own bed by himself, we finally gave up on that hope and moved all of us into the same room - ds1 in a twin on the floor, dh & me in a queen, and ds2 in an Arms Reach cosleeper. We're hoping the boys will get used to each other's night noises and dh & I will finally get to share a bed again after doing "divide & conquer" in separate bedrooms after ds2 was born. The first few nights everyone was more wakeful than usual, but I think we're settling into it. Wish us luck.

Connor is chubby chubby chubby! I have to squeeze and love on him all day long because the chub is so adorable. Ds1 was always a pretty big baby, but he didn't have the rolls that Connor does.

I know some people here have mentioned how different dc2 is from dc1 - how is everyone adjusting to that? I'm feeling a little sad and guilty lately that I wasn't so in love with ds1 during his babyhood as I am with ds2. Ds1 was a really high needs baby who slept terribly, and I also was in such shock at how dramatically my life had changed with becoming a mother and SAHM, that I didn't really enjoy his babyhood at all or feel this overwhelming love for him. I just felt overwhelmed. So while I've been busy loving having this happy baby, I've been belatedly wishing I had enjoyed this baby time with ds1 as well. Oh well, what are you going to do?

Hope everyone else is well!

Wow, what a whirlwind. Julia is 10 weeks now. She is up to 10.10 and is 23 inches long. She was 7.14 and 18 inches when she was born.

I started back to work last weekend, and as hard as it was to go and be away, it was a relief in itself. I dreaded going back and leaving dh to do all the house work and childcare while I sleep all day. He handled it like a champ. Jules slept through the night for him both nights from 9:30 to 5ish. He brought her in to nurse a few times the next day while I was sleeping and gave her pumped mamas milk the rest of the time. My supply has been keeping up with demand and I froze over 44 oz last week that was extra. Right now I have another 30 in the fridge to get into the deep freeze. On the flip side of that she can't nurse as long as she wants because she gets too much in her tummy and then is fussy.

School is almost over for this semester. One more to go and I will graduate as a RN. It is like a dream come true for me.
I will be glad to have a whole month off where there is more time to hold her and less time to spend worrying about homework. I am trying to not let the pressures of the holiday season weigh to heavily on my mind. My pp bleeding finally stopped and the ultrasound showed a thicker than usual uterine lining. Doc wanted me to go on the pill, but I said no way. We'll see what happens.

Sweet Julia is cooing and I think she even giggled today. She smiles and smiles and loves to see our faces. She is quite social and freaks out a bit if I leave her in one room and the rest of the family is down the hall. Her favorite place is in the sling looking out at the world or snuggled in sleeping. She rides with daddy alot in the fleece ring sling I have. It fits him better than me. I have a polycotton one.
She hates tummy time, so I have not been doing it. : She can hold her head up just fine.

I had hard time deciding about the vax situation. I went ahead and did it anyway. With the other two, I did it because I was concerned about them being exposed. There is a lot of international travel in my area. This time, I did it because of knowing what can happen from a medical standpoint. On the other side of the fence, I am very skeptical of the efficacy of the US vax program and what is in them. Sometimes I am crunchy, sometimes not. Like an almond joy commercial.

Time to order pizza for dinner. It was nice to hop online and see how well everyone is doing with their Sept babies!

Lainey is 11.5 weeks old now! I can't believe how close to three months we are. I'm a goof and am totally excited by the fact that the day we conceived her is also her 3 month birthday. It's completely full circle from the time we conceived her to the end of her fourth trimester. Exactly one year. I know, I'm a weirdo, but it just makes me smile

I weighed her at LLL this week. She's 12lb 7oz, but that was with diaper and clothes on, so I'm guessing just a bit over 12lb. My little chunky! I love all of her chubbiness and like to squish it when I'm holding her. Ahh I love chubby babies!

She's getting to be more and more fun lately. Today she laughed for the first time because I was kissing her cheeks really quickly. So cute! She loves it when we stand her up and make her jump or when we help her walk. She's also dangerously close to sitting up on her own, which I cannot believe. Thank goodness she's not my last baby (hopefully) because she didn't stay a newborn baby for long.

Lainey is seemingly a great sleeper, but I'm always waiting for the shoe to drop. I usually nurse her down around 8-8:30 and she'll sleep until anywhere between 2am and 4am then get up to nurse one more time until about 7:30. Very nice! I'm enjoying the sleep and thanking my lucky stars!!!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday season!!

wow we're a quiet bunch lately!!

this will be pretty short at i'm pretty tired from two days full of running errands, going to court on my day off for something related to work, and baking a bunch o goodies to give away and take to work for the holiday season.
felix is 12.2lbs now. we're still on the uphill battle of fighting persistent thrush. he's rolled over 3x on two separate occasions but it seems to be something he has to be in the mood to do he's become very vocal and giggley also very "sturdy" always wanting to stand and sit up and watch everyone/thing. i'm still getting a fairly good amount of sleep which is nice, but my mom who watches him overnight while i work has been getting less and less sleep. he slobbers all the time! and he's able to consistently get his little fists up to his mouth to get all wet and gooey
sooo much else really, but i'm afraid my brain is a bit mooshey from being busy and on my feet all day but am prould to say i got a pan of praline buterscotch bars baked, double batch of lemon snap cookies baked and the dough for two batches of creame cheese walnut cookies hangin out in the freezer til i can bake them up too!! all with dealing with my so far wonderfully mellow tempermented sweet heart : havent felt this productive in a looooong time

must. sleep. now.

and here he is ... http://photos.wfquadefamily.com/disp...e.php?pos=-165
