neighbours impact power bill!

I would have never thought it, but neighbours can impact power bills!
I'm in a bottom level apartment and recently got new neighbours upstair. It's a mom with 2 small dc, verses 2 alcoholic that lived there last winter and were evicted for not paying rent. It's 11* outside, windchill -2 and it's 68 inside my apartment. I can't even remember the last time the heat came on (we've been almost snowbound inside for a week).

Oh yeah. I used to live in a third floor apartment. I hardly used the heat at all in the winter, and the air conditioner in the summer came on only occasionally. They gave a range for utility costs when you looked at the apartments, and my bills were always at or below their estimates. It sure was nice.

Yep! Our electric bill this month is $58!

Oh my gosh, when DH and I were first married we lived in student housing at the university. NONE of our neighbors were from in-state and NONE were used to cold winters. We never once turned on our heat-in fact, we had our windows open with several inches of snow on the ground several times! We lived on the middle floor in the middle of the building-horrible for hauling in groceries, but great for electricity bills!

We lived in an apartment in Washington State for a while, and were surrounded with nieghbors...our heat only came on a couple of times the whole winter! It was awesome...now we pay thru the nose for heat and we are still always cold due to trying to keep down costs! Sucks!
