Wow it is Dec! It really is going by fast! Before you know it January will be here and I will have to start thinking about whether or not I have all the birth supplies I want. How is everyone?

My mom gave me this for Christmas and I absolutely love it. Gorgeous illustrations and very sweet ideas inside. Plus it's just structured enough so that I can be creative about what I include...

This is the prettiest carrier, and fit my shoulders and figure (at 5'6") much better than the Ergo. I got it when my daughter was about nine months, two years ago - it doesn't appear to have...

This potty is great - excellent value & performance! (plus it's cute!) My 9 month old DS took to it right away. He is a big boy (30 in. tall - feet not quite on floor - & 27 lbs.) and this is...

This book feels good in your hands. The paper is heavyweight, and the illustrations flow perfectly.

Everything is going well. I have all the receiving blankets in a box waiting for her in my room. I just need to put them in the dryer just before needed. I don't have anything else. Hmmm...the only thing I can really think of getting is a shower curtain at a dollar store. I seen a few things I'd like at birthlove, but will wait after the holidays to get them. (like a peri bottle, wish I never threw out my other ones)

I'm no longer 100% committed to UCing. I may have a midwife in attendance, but I am still UPing.

I've given some thought to birth supplies, but haven't done much more than search craigslist for discounted stuff. All that I've gotten so far is a car seat.
But getting birth supplies has definitely been on my mind more and more...there will be a post-Christmas lull soon that will give me more time to run and get stuff, I think.
Mostly what I think about when planning for the birth, is wondering what position I will wind up giving birth in.

I've been going through a lot of stress due to work & kids' activities & homeschooling & holidays and such. I really just want to sit at home and knit and mentally prepare for birth, but I don't really have time to do anything but go non stop these days. I've started getting really pissy with people, and I cancelled a few things that might relieve some of the stress, but it just doesn't seem to go away. I really want to quit my job, but I've committed to finishing a project before I go, so of course it's turning out to be long and drawn out and more complicated than anyone expected. (I do part-time drafting, mostly at home, for a kitchen design business.)
I'm starting to feel panicked because I haven't made any lists or plans for the birth or the baby. I ordered a car seat last night (our old infant seat expired last year and I threw it away) so I feel like at least one thing is taken care of. I don't think there is much else I really need, but there are plenty of things I WANT to buy, and the trick is going to be figuring out what to get.
I really want to take a nap right now because I have to go to a stupid office party for DH tonight, but my children are in the other room screaming at each other, and I have to go referee.
Sorry this is turning into a rant.
I just can't wait for the holidays and my job to go away so I can settle down and nest and such.

This is a hard time of year for everyone especially those of us that have little ones AND are 8 months pg! Ihave been extremely stressed out because we haven't had the money to buy a *single* Christmas present yet. I am going to be doing everything last minute when dh gets paid next week and we will be on a very tight budget.
I have maybe 3 outfits for this baby. I don't know what I was thinking when I left all my baby things with my family and moved 2000 miles away! I had tons of stuff and now we have nothing! I know we don't need much but I want at least some nightgowns and I plan to cloth diaper since it will be cheaper in the long run. One of my sis' said she would send me my car seat but I haven't heard much about it in a while so who know when I will get it.
As far as birth supplies go, I am just going to use an old shower liner and old towels. I don't have my peri bottle anymore but have thought about buying a water bottle and using that instead or maybe I could find one like a peri at Good Foods where they sell bottles to fill with lotion and such. Hmmm... I am going to let the kids pick out their favorite colors of embroidery floss to tie the cord with. I did that last time and they enjoyed that. I hoped to make and herbal bath with some comfrey and other herbs but have not come even close to having the money for that
I can't think of anything else. UP/UC is so cheap!
DiD- I saw your post on the UC forum. I am sorry to see you aren't UCing but I am sure you will have the birth that is best for you and your family!

I am still planning for a UC for my twins.. went to see the midwife the other day and she told me that they wouldnt even get paid if they were to attend my birth so yeah.. it's just out of the question
we are setting up a meeting with the midwife my ob my hubby and I to hash out birthing plans if I do end up in the hospital (complications? preterm? who knows?)
I have most of the stuff I need... still haven't bought a birthing pool.. I can't really afford it right now.. we are trying to climb out of debt before these babies get here...
