Need to get baby out!

With my daughter I had pregnancy hypertension and was on bedrest for about 5 weeks.....this time my blood pressure has been great, until now. It was a little elevated last week and my midwife said we would just wait and see.....now it's up more. I'm expecting them to want to induce me next week sometime because of this and I really DON'T want to be induced. My cervix is thin and dialated to 2cm and my body is showing lots of signs of labor.......SO........what is a good way to get things moving? I know the usuals.....sex, walking, spicy foods, etc......but I need more ideas!!!!

I've heard enemas sometimes work

But also applying pressure to pressure points along the leg and around the feet. Though, I don't know exact locations. Also, if you have an acupuncturist nearby, a session or two may help too.

I’ve heard that acupuncture is highly affective. A friend of mine was 10 days overdue, tried everything you can think of to induce labor. Finally she tried acupuncture and went into labor right there on the acupuncture table. Lol. So it is highly affective especially if your ready to have baby already and just want to move things along. I also know lots of acupuncturist won’t do it on pregnant woman until there due date. But its worth a try. Good luck!

I hear ya... I have usually VERY low blood pressure and this weekly appt was the first I've have normal (120 over 80) pressure, which for me is high. They were the same - wait and see. But I'm with you, I want this baby out NOW!

With my son, I did 2 enemas, he was born less than 15 hours later (3 hours of labor). I'm thinking once I finish cleaning this house (I've been in manic cleaning mode today), maybe tomorrow morning I'm going to 'cleanse' myself.

And, although, I'm annoyed at DH at the moment I plan on having some major orgasms and nipple stimulation tonight!

Anxiously awaiting more 'baby get out' tips with you!!

I got this info on some pregnancy email group I was on a few months back...I copied it and pasted it into an email for myself for "just in case" and hope it's ok to share:

This point is found between the first and second
metacarpal bones (thumb and first finger) at the
distal end of the crease on both hands.

Acupressure Technique
Simply apply pressure with the thumb as shown in the
diagram.
This has the effect of intensifying contractions,
useful if contractions are of irregular intensity
This point can be used during the second stage of
labour. It aids the body's efforts to move the baby
down through the birth canal. It may be especially
useful if the woman is tired and not pushing
effectively.

When labour does not go as planned
Un-established Labour or failure to progress.

This is an important point to help the cervix dilate,
and can be used when the cervix is not effectively
dilating during labour.

Point Location
This point is located using four of the woman's finger
widths above the tip of the medial malleous, (the shin
bone on the inside of the ankle). The point will be
very tender and is found when you slide your finger
off the edge of the tibia bone, towards the inside of
the leg. It is useful on initially locating this point
to press on the tibia; it produces a very different
sensation from the point.

Acupressure Technique
Direct pressure is applied with the index finger or
thumb.
I recommend using this point on one leg at a time for
approximately one minute (count slowly to 60 !) then
using it on the opposite leg 20 - 30 minutes later.
This point will be very tender and after using it some
women will feel their
cervix stretching and contractions strengthening.

and fresh pineapple. it has an enzyme in it that triggers things to get going if your body's ready. (not canned though)

I might go talk to a hebalist. My sister took a mixture of castrol oil and black and blue cohosh. That worked in one day. the b and b tincture worked very well for another friend of mine. I would talk to someone who know's their stuff, we have a hebal dispensary in kelwona and they are great.

good luck

Well, still pregnant. Friday we took a long walk, had dinner and then dh enjoyed some time together. Yesterday a friend of mine loaned me her breast pump, which put her into labor with her second. No go, baby is still inside. Today is the due date I calculated, tomorrow is the one the midwives are going with. I've just decided to try and relax!
