SOS! Need Christmas Letter Help!

Thanks!

I think I would put births and deaths right away after "hope this finds you happy and healthy." Something like "We are missing grandfather who passed away in August. To our delight, baby boy was born in Febuary to my sister."

Then start the new paragraph with "It's been a busy year."

I would cut back on the exclamation points so they have more meaning where you do use them and so you don't sound like you're shouting. I'm pretty sure "alot" should actually be "a lot" and you missed some letters in "convenient" at some point, maybe just typed it too fast.

Otherwise, it sounds great . That coffee kiosk sounds like a nice way to balance home and work. Merry Christmas!

My suggestion is:

"It's been a busy year for our family. We've had some great news and some sad news as well. We were sad to lose XX's grandpa this year, who died in (fill in the month). We miss him very much.

We've welcomed a new member to the family, as XX's brother/sister had a son, NAME, in (fill in the month).

In our immediate family, Dorian is now 4 years old...."

I think it's important not to leave the bad news out -- it makes your letter seem to artificial.

2nd draft.. Any input?

Yes, that was a ruff draft I will proof read it before it goes out a few times!

I usually end with something like "Wishing you joy, peace and good health in the coming year."

How about something like "We hope you have a merry Christmas and we wish you the best in the new year" and sign it.

I'm still editing mine, too. I found this website pretty helpful:

I don't hae an advice on how to write your yearly letter. I just wanted to say that I personally detest those things. To me, no matter how you word them, they seem like you're bragging and just going on and on about howgreat your family is.

Just my personal opinion on these holiday letters. I know a lot of people enjoy them.

Oh I just finished my holiday letter. I love writing them. On one side I put the basic, bare bones news. On the other I brag my head off about how fantastic my family is (with a disclaimer of course!). I can Email you the letter if you would like, doriansmommy... just PM me with the address

I always sign mine something like "from our family to yours, we wish you the very happiest of holidays and the best possible New Year" or something of that ilk.

I enjoy getting holiday letters. I like reading about how everyone is doing and hearing someone brag a little... too many people never say anything positive all year long!

I find that using Word is great, since it will help you correct spelling and grammer Plus you can put in a cute clip art or a nice header.

Good Luck!

It sounds good to me and doesn't sound braggy.

The best holiday letter I've ever read is from one of my mom's friends. She makes it all into a rhyme. This woman manages to write about her husband having colon cancer or something and it ALL RHYMES! I can't even begin to imagine how she does it.

And thinking of bragging, one of our other friends sent a letter that said something like "My tennis team won the championships. Isn't God wonderful?" and made it sound like God was right there whacking balls with them.

that would be "pasttime" (i THINK it's one "t"). but i know for sure it's not "pass time".

otherwise it sounds great! i know lots of people hate those things, but i love them. sometimes it's the only news i get of people all year, and it's fun to read what they've been up to. i've sent out my first one this year, too. i don't think mine sounds as well-rounded as yours!
