Help! I'm getting married in my back yard this June and I need something to walk down the ailse to! Any suggestions? There will be about 70 people there, I will be wearing a traditional wedding dress and dh2b will be in a tux, so its somewhat traditional (if you can call it that with our 6 kids there! )
Help!

We had our wedding outside also (by a lake, it was beautiful if I may say so myself, but I digress!!!). It was a lot less formal than you describe yours as being. We had my former flute teacher and her husband playing flute and dulcimer for the music and walked down the path to Simple Gifts (Its a gift to be simple its a gift to be free etc.) no one sang the lyrics though, just the music I always loved Pachabells Canon for weddings too and you can find a copy of that anywhere to play on a stereo (you didn't say if you have someone playing or if you would just have it on the stereo) If you have someone playing for you they can help you by playing some sample songs also.
Hope you wedding is just WONDERFUL and congratulations on taking the big plunge!!!!!!!

We had Bach's "Joy of Man's Desiring" played on acoustic guitar - it was awesome. I once went to a wedding where they played the theme from "Rocky" as march music. Kind of bizarre but cute!

For my (outdoor, simple) wedding we had a string trio. I used to take violin lessons so I called my old teacher and he introduced me to the trio who are students of his. They are 3 siblings, all in High School, but were quite good. I got them music for Pachebel's Canon in D for the processional but I let them pick the rest of the music since they knew their abilities better than I did. It was BEAUTIFUL. And I paid them about $300 (about twice what they asked for) which was a lot for them, but very cheap compared to what a professional trio would have cost.

So if you don't have musically talented family members, check out (High School or College) students. If you find someone who gives lessons they can refer you to any qualified students.

I second Pachelbel's canon in D - I used it myself. Just beautiful. I also like "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring," but I didn't think it would go over well with the rabbi...

These are great you guys! Thank you so much, its very helpful. I really like the idea of the theme from Rocky, its crazy and doing something like that would be perfect for us! We were going to do the old stereo thing, but I also like the idea of hiring a band from the local high school. Ahh, dont h=know what to do!:
Thanks again for the help!

Our wedding music was non-traditional.

I walked down the aisle first, to a song by Ella Fitzgerald (can't remember the name, I"ll have to ask DH.)

DH followed, to the tune of the Pixies "Here comes your man."

Nobody was expecting such a bouncy, fun song to follow Ella... Everybody LOVED it.
