Seeking a Holistic Doctor for my baby

Help! I live in Northern MD (harford county) and need to attract a pediatrician for my baby (someone who is holistically friendly and supportive of alternative healing & breastfeeding) I am creating a homebirth, so it would be GREAT to have one who would do a homevisit! I visited with Dr. Sears today. She would be great but she is FAR and doesn't travel but 15 miles outside of her area (I am much farther): : .

Internet searches are not helpful and I have lists of doctors but little time and no stragetry for how to weed them out effectively! Help! Help! Help! I need a plan!

Where did you get the list from? I'm guessing it has no information on it beyond contact info etc, is that right? I can give you a few suggestions, but I don't know your area in particular! Some of these may be really obvious, but I'm trying to put together the sort of list I came up with for myself.

I know some people find that nurse practioners are more open minded and easy to work with than doctors. I have found this myself, but also could have just been lucky with who I've seen.

Practices with lots of doctors tend to be places to avoid, with rare exceptions.

If you know any health practitioners in the area, like chiropracters, anyone you trust who gets referrals from doctors, see if they'll tell you if certain docs will refer to them. I decided to look into a certain practice initially because I knew they were willing to send people to Physical Therapists who were a little outside the mainstream, and thought that might extend to other issues.

If you get as far as calling someone, and are not treated well on the phone, don't go there. A great doc with a horrible staff is nearly impossible to deal with sometimes, and a good staff should always be professional when you call.
