(X-posted in Birth & Beyond)

I am not sure if this is allowed; if it's not please just let me know and I will edit it.

Many of you have probably encountered 'home birth debate' blog. In response a page to debate the safety of hospital birth has been started, and I am going to help moderate and find/write articles.

I was wondering if anyone had any articles or writings on the safety of hospital birth that they would like to share or hospital birth stories demonstrating its lack of safety. If you're interested let me know, and I can pass along the articles to the owner of the blog to see if she would like to post them.

I've written several homebirth articles on AC including one about our 'dear' Dr. Amy

http://www.associatedcontent.com/art...homebirth.html
http://www.associatedcontent.com/art...ll_i_need.html
http://www.associatedcontent.com/art...d_mindset.html
http://www.associatedcontent.com/art...eaders_dr.html The Dr. Amy article...
http://www.associatedcontent.com/art...er_parent.html

I also am writing a series on pregnancy, etc. and some of the articles aren't published yet but if you want to look up my AC page (easy to find) you should be able to find them. They're near the top.

You know what's funny? I came across your article about Dr. Amy already and posted a link to it in the blog a few weeks ago! I thought it was superb. We will read the other ones and post the ones we like (if you don't mind) The link is in my siggi if you want to check the blog out beforehand.

ETA: I'm going to post "Homebirth can make you a better parent." That is a new perspective we haven't addressed before, and I think it'll be a great edition. I also like the one about the mindset of homebirthers, but it's a little long Do you mind if I post the first half, prior to the story about Shelly, and then the second half a day or so later?

This month coming out is "Is Homebirth Painful?", "Is Homebirth Messy?", "Homebirth: Do I Need Prenatal Testing?", "Homebirth and Feminism", and "Homebirth and Spirituality"

The articles written for them are exclusive, so I can't allow you to pull them...but I can write very similar articles for you if you like, or you can do a synopsis and link to them. Now I wish I hadn't submitted them for exclusive content *laughs*

I'd love if you'd write some similar articles for the blog. I will be sure to link to you next time I update so that my readers can enjoy your work. We LOVED the article about Amy, lol.

Let me know what format you're looking for and I'll write you up some articles. (word count, aspect you're looking for, etc.). I'd really appreciate a link. I started writing the homebirth articles and all my friends were pointing out this Dr. Amy person advertising and I'm like 'What a load of *censored*'. I saw your siggy with hospitalbirthdebate and chuckled. I knew what it was in response to

Try to keep it under maybe 1000 words, so that it's manageable and doesn't take too long to read. Any format or aspect is fine; just use your own unique style. The topic is basically the safety of homebirth and the lack thereof in hospital birth, so basically it needs to be articles that demonstrate that in some way. You are also welcome to write an article in response to things that anti-homebirthers like Dr. Amy say. I get a lot of my inspiration from the crap Amy spews!

PS If you get a blogger account, I can just add you under the list of people who can update the blog, and then you could write and post articles at your convenience. The pay isn't very good (zero, lol) but it's for a good cause!

*snicker* but Dr. Amy knows ALL! She's a DOCTOR!!!!

I had someone once refer to my homebirths as 'birthing at home, in the floor, like an animal.'

I still get a kick out of how dense the ignorant can sound...

tehe... Dr. Amy retired to be a SAHM after practicing for only 7 years. Her medical liscense expired in 2003, making her experience 4 years old as of now. She graduated Harvard back in the 80s, making her education 20 years old. As far as I'm concerned she's got the same amount of knowledge as any other SAHM who knows how to read.

I'll add your name to the blog next time I update, probably sometime tonight
