Fast Food Nation

WOW! I am just finally getting around to reading this,it has been checked out of my library for awhile. I must say I am only into chapter 1 and I am really enjoying it, so full of info and how the world really changed with the intro of the automobile. I know alot of moms have read this, I really think this book is going to change my whole view of fastfood. We don't eat it now for money reasons, but I know after reading this my convictions to avoid it will be stronger. I am already a little put out that the McDonald's brothers would not hire girls to work in there restaruants because they thought they would attract teenage boys. Can you believe you could get away with stuff like that at one time:

Ah, thanks for the reminder mojomom. I've been vaguely thinking about something I wanted to read from a while back. This is it. I'm going to check the library.

Another great book is Diet for a New America by John Robbins. It deals with the American diet, specifically the American meat and dairy industry.

Well my dh has hijacked this book from me. It is addicted to McD's fries and he wants to read what they do to make them taste so good. It is nice now I have someone to discuss it with.

A must read!

Yes, I agree, Fast Food Nation is really a great book.

It's a must-own (or at least a must-read) on any vegan/vegetarian's bookshelf.

I thought I was aware of most of the food production horrors but I had no idea what goes into making those Biggie Stepford-fries at McYucks. What a huge waste of resources. : What happened to a potato looking like a potato???

I'll second the Diet For A New America rec, also.

There's more tips on related books, etc, if you do a search (upper right corner of your screen) using "fast food nation".
