I think dd and I have thrush...we are both sick, both on abx (she for ear infection, me for sinus infection)...I thought that mastitis was coming back but now after some research I think it may be thrush. I have an awful pain in my left breast when nursing or pumping....it's like being stabbed...there is no redness/swelling like with mastitis. Think it's thrush?
Also, dd has had diareahh for DAYS now...and last night she started to show a dipe rash...which this morning was full blown awful....she is bright red, it is spreading fast, and very painful. Because she is pooping so much we are changing dipes like crazy. I am using warm water on washclothes to clean her up (wipes make her SCREAM). I am using nystantin cream on her bottom and gina...I am also using maalox every other change to neutralize the 'acid' from having the runs. Anyway, my question is....what can I do to clear it up faster...she is so miserable during diaper changes it is making ME cry...
btw...I let her have naked time earlier...she pooped on the floor...not a biggie to me (well, it was all over the place....it just blows outta there )but SO can hardly change her w/o puking : so I cannot let her just spray poo all over the place....
What can I do to help her poor bottom???
Thanks wise mommas!

Check out the Battling Thrush Support Thread. I think I have tried almost every remedy except the APNO. The Nystatin drops did not do much for my dd, but she never had a diaper rash. But take it from me, don't mess around with this stuff. It has set up camp in my milk ducts and I am having a heck of a time getting rid of it. So hit it hard! ASAP get some GV and GSE and acidophillus. Start using these according to Dr. Jack Newman. Also, cut out sugars...this is very hard to do, especially this time of year. Let's see, what else....start disinfecting your bras with bleach or very hot water and hat dryer. Sterilize anything that comes in contact with your breasts or dd mouth, ie paci's, pump parts, etc.

I hope this helps, also read some of the other forums, there's a lot of good info here.

What wipes are you using? I use Lansinoh which have lanolin in them, formulated for BFing babies. Of course at this point, anything may hurt. Another idea would be Tucks medicated pads with witch hazel in them.

I already have a shopping list...I asked SO to get me some stuff last night and when I started naming off stuff to get (gv, acidophillus, gse)SO was like wth?? You better write that down or go yourself...
Also, in my google search I found a product called Motherlove Diaper Rash Relief which can be used both on baby bottoms and nipples...and you don't have to wash it off to nurse...
Oh, and my wipes are unscented Huggies
This morning when I changed dd she still wiggled a bit but no crying....whew...nursing still hurts like crazy!!
