Cool crunchy group

Just have to say that this DDC is shaping up to be a cool crunchy group already I love how many UCs and homebirths I see planned already.

It should be a fun 9 months!

mucho agreed. i like that we dont have ALOT of people wanting elective repeat non medically nec c-sec. or "hook me up to the epi" people.
this DDC is so much more comfy for me than the DDC i was in on another website for DDs DDC

Not really. But I did read on another board that someone *had* already scheduled her Csection. I bit my tongue. I love this board.

ACK! as a mama who has had a c-section, WHY in the H.E.double hockey sticks would you schedule to be ripped into like that?! NOT fun! NOT easy.

addysmama, lets see....some of the reasons I've heard....

"I'm gonna probably end up with a Csection anyway, so why bother with the pain of labor?"

and "I want to be able to choose my baby's birthday and have him/her on a weekend so DH doesn't have to miss any work"

blah blah blah, there's more, I'm sure. I'm right there with you. We are planning a homebirth, maybe even a UC. I will CD (for the first time) have always BF'd and CLW'd....I'm a pretty AP mama, but not all that crunchy DP is pretty mainstream himself, but I'm slowly bringing him over to the darkside, haha

Yikes! Thats a terrible reason! I already had my boss ok taking 2-3 weeks paid vacation when Crazycandigirl and I have our punkin. Who wouldn't miss work to see a wonderful little baby brought into the world and spend a few days taking care of mama and baby.

Oh I totally agree too. If I were on any other mainstream board and said I was planning a UC with just me (obviously ), my DH, my two kids and NO ONE else (*gasp* no doctors?!) , and that we still co sleep, don't vax, don't circ, don't do well baby visits, etc etc etc etc etc, well....I'd probably be burned at the stake.

I should go post that somewhere and just see what happens, the reaction I'm sure would be entertaining to say the least. :

Well I may be the least crunchy of the DDC. I'm still not into homebirth for myself but this time I"m using a MW instead of and OB and I hope to have no interventions, where my first was rife with them Now I know better, thanks to all you crazies Also, since my first birth, my mom (who attended along with DH) has gone on to become a doula.

yeah, I'm pretty pleased to find as much crunch here as I have. I'd've shown up a few weeks ago, but I'd been afraid of what I'd find, to be honest...

but I'm definitely impressed.

Well she's had some good experiences and some bad. She loves seeing the babies but the moms don't always listen to her, and just want their epidural or whatever. She's volunteered her services to some inner city moms in shelters (she lives in Royal Oak, MI so goes into Detroit) which is nice, but can be really hard too.
