can they go on a nursing strike at 4 months?!

My DD has been really fussy lately (well, always, but more so lately), I think shes teething as I feel two little bumps on her bottom gum and she bites her fingers and cries in pain often, but the past few days its like I have to wrestle her to nurse! She nurses tons at night or when shes in the sling and I'm walking (after fighting her to go in the sling), but any other time she fights it like I'm poisoning her, to the point where people stare at me in public while I try to force her body towards my breast.....:
We had her on reflux meds when she was 2 months old, and it didn't seem to help much with her colic, plus she nurses great in bed at night. She was usually pretty good about nursing until a few days ago. I was just trying to get her to nurse a few minutes ago and she screamed and screamed and screaming as soon as I held her in cradle hold and arhed herself all the way back to try to wiggle out of my arms.....shes off playing with daddy now.
I don't know what to do because I know shes upset and I know she HAS to be hungry, but she just will NOT nurse. (or go to sleep, but thats a different story....)
any advice? BTDT? I know shes getting plenty of milk at night and when we go out during the day (I have to walk alot to get her to calm down in the sling, so it really only works when we are shopping or going for a walk), but I'd sooo love to be able to calm her down at the breast again rather than have it make her upset!

I'm there now with my 3mo. I also suspect teething as the culprit, and hope it is. The only thing that helps the "MOM IS POISONING ME!!!" screams has been to feed her before she gets hungry. I think teeth+hunger+tiredness cause baby to refuse to eat because she's too cranky from everything combined. I just offer Very Frequently and she accepts sometimes.

my ds does that sometimes.. he is almost 5 months old. I think two things may be happening:

One, he *might* be teething. Those darn things take so long to come in, but I am SURE they start hurting before we can see them.

Two, he has stared to fight going to sleep. Its much more interesting to be awake and he does NOT get why I keep trying to make him go to sleep. He gets sooooooo tired and when I try to nurse him to go to sleep, he fights it like I'm killing him. He doesnt do this when we lie down for bedtime though, maybe because he knows we all go to bed, and he wont be missing much.
