DD just asked ...

... If she could try my breastmilk again! Btw, she's going to be 9 in 2 weeks, and doesn't have any siblings. We were talking about MDC and the common principles here, including ebf ( she was bfed until over 2.5 y.o.) She was just curious, and kind of embarassed to ask, so I tried to handle it sensitively. I told her that because of the medications I take, it wouldn't be healthy.

I'm wondering why this wierded me out so much. We're very open about body stuff, she knows what my period is, how babies are made (mostly). And now that I think of it, just a few days ago she pressed me for more specifics about sex, and i told her that the mans penis goes in the womans vagina, and that was hwere she stopped asking.

I feel like maybe this most recent question shouldn't have wierded me out, but it did. I shouldn't be worried right?

Hmmm. None of it is weird, I don't think.

I wonder, was she asking to nurse or was she asking to taste the milk? If she was asking to nurse, then maybe it's a closeness thing? She really just needed to cuddle? If it's a milk tasting thing, I"ll bet she was just curious.

Either way, though, it's perfectly fine and normal.

She just wanted to know what it tastes like, not nurse. I agree it was just curiosity. I'm more intrigued by why I reacted by being so wierded out... I don't think I showed it, tho...

I did that when I was about that age. Asked for a taste again, it was a curiousity thing, I had little siblings nursing and knew I used to, couldn't remember why. So she let me taste a little bit, I believe it went along the lines of,
"Okay then, open your mouth"
*squirt*
"Yick! That tastes weird, why do babies like that?"

LOL
