"Dropping", PTL Spin Off

There seems to be a lot of talk about these two subjects around here lately...we're all going through a lot of the same issues! Here's to the February babies staying put for at least another few weeks!! Hang in there, sweet babies!!

I have a question too about "dropping" or the baby being very, VERY LOW. Is there ever a time when it is too soon to be in that position? I can feel the baby's head and occassionally it's hands BELOW my pubic bone. I also am having a ton of pressure on my cervix and day before yesterday it was a lot worse when I was up walking around.

Any thoughts? Does having a baby so low mean anything in regards to going into labor?

I asked something similar on one of the other threads, but didn't get a response, so I hope you get a helpful one here!

I hope it doesn't mean anything. My baby has been in that position pretty much throughout the pregnancy, and I haven't had any signs of labor yet, although I've been having a lot of lower back pain, pubic and pelvic floor pain, and cervical pressure. I think he's just most comfortable sitting there.

DD was very low, head down, and engaged for the entire third trimester of my pregnancy with her. This baby is high so I am getting to experience the other symptoms: shortness of breath, small appetite, etc. I think I prefer to have a low lying baby although I'm actually able to see feet and hands poking out of my belly this time. I never did get that with DD as she was always anterior. DD was only 5 days early so I don't think that having her so low and head down affected when I went into labor. However, my cervix was very sore towards the end.

Dd1 was head down, engaged from about 30 weeks on. By 36 weeks I was 100% effaced and dilating right along. She was not born until 39 weeks 3 days. I hope that everyone else who is experiencing a low babe right now has the same experience, and their babe's stay put for awhile longer. For the record, because of this early engagement I think, dd's head came on coned and lopsided to the side she was engaged toward

With my last pg, I didn't get the feeling of "dropping" til much later, like 37-38 weeks. He was born at 41 weeks by induction. All that pressure on my cervix didn't do much of anything, even with the induction that took 50 hours! (We're not going to do that again!)

This one feels (and looks) pretty high up right now, although I have had more pubic symphesis pain this time. Haven't really had any cervical pressure yet.

my son was really high and then dropped down at 31 weeks. dropped really low i mean.... i had to sit with legs wide open for the rest of my pregnancy!! (my son was born either 3 or 10 days late, depending on who you ask.)

all the photos from my baby shower show me with my legs wide open!! oh so lovely in shorts.

this one started out lower, has dropped a bit, but isn't fully engaged yet...

the thing that really sucks is the lower the head goes the more spotting i'm having. it's really annoying.

i'm guess that whatever it is that's bleeding, cervix or polyp, it's only gonna get worse and bleed during labor...
