Ringu (the original version)

So, we watched it last night. It's only slightly better than The Ring. It still left you wondering about the girl and why she is the way she is, but at least we have the sequel and prequel to look forward to.

It was nice to see that the mother didn't kill her. I wondered (out loud) why American culture would dictate that having the mother kill her is better than in the original movie where the father kills her. (or the possible father...we don't really know yet, do we?) Sometimes, our culture bites.

I liked that the mother had ESP. And, so did Asakanawa's ex-dh. I still don't understand if Sadako just liked killing ppl or what. But, I mused that it began b/c she was protecting her mother. Those men were really men to her!

I noticed that Sadako took longer to come out of the tv screen in this one, but she still had that creepy walk. I think it was creepier in this version. I think I am a bit scared.

Seriously.

Ooohhh, I MUST see Ringu! I saw The Ring a few months ago and at night when I come downstairs for a drink or snack I get soooo scared walking by the TV. I actually end up running as fast as I can up the steps! I went to a website (forget the URL) that explained about the book and the very numerous movies based on the book. I'll try to find it, I think you would enjoy it. Dh and I both thought The Ring was a sub-par movie, but I somehow became obsessed with it!

We loved Ringu, it had a better story then The Ring. I really want to see Ringu2 and Ringu0 now. Very scary!

We have a local "specialty" shop that rents movies. It carries all three of them. But Ringu 2 and Ringu 0 are only available on VHS right now.

I'm in Indiana, so I imagine they can be found.

I was a bit to find out that my library has Ringu! I could have watched it for free!

I plan on getting the 2nd one tonight. Would have gotten it last night, but dh got sick.
