Could this be milk intolorance/allergy?

Hi there,
I have identical twin girls who are almost 18 months. They have been nightweaned for about a month and right around that time, I noticed one babe has had a terrible diaper rash. (They also had a stomach bug a week or so before I started the nightweaning, so the rash could have started then.) Katie has always had a more sensitive stomach -- she was the only one who hiccuped when pregnant, needed to be burped, had huge spit up, did not like any formula during the two weeks I tried to supplement with formula...

Anyway -- I have been treating with airtime and pentaten and it seems to get worse and then sometimes a bit less worse, but it's still here. At first, I thought it might be the oranges we had early on, but we haven't had anymore for several weeks, and it's still here, and I can think of nothing else new we have added to or changed about their diet or soaps or dipes or wipes... except they both are drinking more milk now since the nightweaning. They still nurse as much as they want in the day, but often I will give a cup of milk with meals. Livie loves it and seems to have no trouble... but Katie never seems to like it and drinks just a few sips before throwing her cup down.

Is she trying to tell me this is what's making her feel so miserable? This morning, her bum was *so* red and angry and had little, almost, tiny tears in the skin?? I made an appt to see the doctor today as well, but wanted to get your advice. Could this be an allergy/sensitivity? Is it likely milk? What should I substitute if it is?

TIA for your advice.

It definitely could be. It's worth cutting all dairy from her diet (and yours, too, if you can!) Read labels carefully, no dairy products, including butter, cheese, casein, whey, etc. Good luck!
