Looking for ideas.....

Ds already has a ton of sports-related items.

He loves vehicles, firefighters, police officers, pilots.(Someone told me about Matchbox Heroes, but I can't find them....)

He is sorta interested in legos, but doesn't have the small ones.

He is just recently enjoying board games w/o getting frustrated....

Please share!!

We are giving our 5 yo DS a magic set, a Cranium superfort, and a children's workbench. He *loves* board games... here are our favorites:
Balloon Lagoon
Sequence for Kids
Headache
Uno Attack

He also really likes setting up domino courses -- I wanted so much to get Domino Rally, but it seems to be sold out everywhere. He got Marble Runaround last year and loves it.

Good luck!

Ds is getting a scooter, something called a line chaser which is a little robot/car with a sensor so it can follow the line that you draw (I'm hoping that will encourage him to use a writing implement), an air rocket (it has a bike pump type thing, he has and likes his stomp rocket, too). He enjoys building space ships with dh using the little legos. His plastic marble run has gotten a lot of use. He likes his Morphibian R/C vehicle because he can drive it thru puddles.

Balloon Lagoon is fabulous. Other great 5 year old games are:

1. Slamwich and Hiss, which are easy card games but fun for all to play

2. Guess Where (players have to figure out where in a house the other player has put a family of mom, dad, brother, sister, grandma, grandpa and cat and dog). It's a type of Battleship but without the war overtones.

3. YOu gotta be Kidding (Would you rather game...like would you rather have to eat a bug or get bitten by mosquitos etc... Lot's of fun for a family)

4. Lego Games

If you do computer stuff I highly recomend Zoo Tycoon and also the Webkinz stuffed animals (www. webkinz.com...click on take a tour!)

Kids digital camera
Big lightening McQueen car from the movie cars
the movie cars
Clothes
Some paper for drawing on

I think thats all, might pick up a few more things when we do our final shopping this weekend.

Our 5yo DS is getting:

Gameboy Advance and one game for it (DH's family is very widespread, so we take long car trips at least once or twice a month)
Fur Real Friend baby white tiger cub
"gross-out snack lab" (not sure what this is, but he's asking for it)
Fisher Price digital camera

In his stocking, he is getting a DVD he's been eyeing, some new underwear (the kid LOVES getting new underwear and is constantly asking for new ones!), a Boog stuffed animal from the movie "Open Season," and some bath crayons.

A fire truck, a fire engine (yes, they are different), a police car, an ambulance and a police motorcycle. We're very big into rescue vehicles these days. (I bought these used on Ebay for a great deal!)

A street sweeper

A Volcano book and kit (make your own volcano!)

Dominoes

Extended family are getting board games, legos and another fire truck!

Ds is getting a Lionel train set - $$$ but he's been asking for one all year practically. I'm still looking for a small marble run, then he's getting a few plastic dinosaurs figures and matchbox airplanes.

He hasn't been into any of the games he got last year, but maybe we'll try again now that he's older.

My ds will be 5 in February...

Here's what he has so far:

Power Wheels 4 wheeler thing (he outgrew his smaller one, so it's being passed to my younger ds)
helmet for above
the matchbox sized cars from the Cars movie (the whole collection, we're only short Lizzie & Sarge right now)
4 Books
a Knight costume
some Magnetix
the Cars game for V-Smile
2 Potato Head outfits (Santa & Pirate)

plus stocking stuffers - Cars toothbrush, boxers, Darth Tater (mr potato head in Darth Vader costume) keychain, bouncy ball, etc. Oh, and P.J's - everyone gets new p.j.s for Christmas morning.

My mother got him the Playmobil Eagle castle, and MIL got him the Fisher Price Digi Cam & Case & Memory card. Plus there are great grandparents, and aunties/uncles, godparents...

Dh swears that this will be the 1st Christmas he'll remember, so we have to do it big. I've been buying all year, I didn't realize it had got so ridiculous. He's not even going to be with us on Christmas day - he's at his Daddy's this year. We'll do Christmas on the 27th, after he comes home.

'Tis absurd.

fridgits marble track
My son got viking playmobile and a couple of viking books.
A bike Ramp (thanks Craigslist!)
Blokus
Mancala
Those black fuzzy (velvet) color in the white space art (?) things - He is so mesmerized by them, but I'm not sure he really knows what it is.
a watch
mad libs
Oh Yikes (the history book about wierd things)

And what will be his favorite gift:
A solid chocolate santa that weighs at least 3/4 lb!
