Spin-off: What is on your "to do" list? - Page 2

I still have to:

Install infant car seat bases in cars
Finish packing labor bag
Pack "coming home" outfit for baby (was in wash when I packed rest of bag)
Put sheet on cradle mattress
Unpack 0-3 month clothes and put them into cabinet

I'm feeling pretty well prepared at this point.

I went through a major cleaning, nesting phase a week or two ago and am waiting for another urge to hit. Here's all I still need to do...

-Go through birth kit to make sure everything is there
-Wash baby clothes and blankets
-Wash diapers once more
-Lanolize wool
-Wash our bedding and double make bed
-Wash towels/washrags that will be set aside for the birth
-Clean out downstairs closet - I dread this one and keep hoping dh will do it!
-Be vigilant about staying caught up on laundry from now till D-Day
-Prepare some freezer meals - Probably wishful thinking
-Replace shower curtain liner -ours is ripped in a couple of spots
-Scrub baby bathtub
-Wash covers for car seat, swing, bouncy seat, and Boppy.
-Wash hotsling

Hmm.. I'm sure there's more, but that's all I can think of right now.

reading everyone's to do list makes me think of things that i should do - although nothing earth shattering if she decides to be born oh say....latter on when i get home from work

1. probably should make sure i/we know how to install the car seat base just in case

2. wash my new sling that my mum had made for me - it smells funky ?!? (its a bright eggplant color so im thinking i might need to soak it for a day or so to let some color out as well as an odd unidentified smell...)

3. update a few snail mail addresses in my baby/wedding excel file

4. put all my email addresses from work and home accounts in one place for my fiance for right after the birth (im only making like 3 calls, tops - everyone else gets email)

5. one last trip to the walmart super center for food and staples stock-up - i hit most of my reg. grocery stores (traders, wild oates, whole foods) the day before yesterday in a sad attempt to buy enough non-perishable(ish) groceries for about a month - although when you like to eat whole, organic foods, this is a little tougher - but not impossible i guess

6. clean my bathroom and perhaps the fridge

I think that is about it - but each time i read a new post i think, oh crap i should do that too!!

Ahhh, the infamous list. I think I'm on the 10th or 12th version of mine. I've pretty much decided that it will NEVER really be done. I'll just keep working my way through & then adding more stuff once I'm mostly caught up.

At the moment I'm working on:

~ unpacking the last couple boxes of dishes from storage (and yes, we've been in our home over a year : )
~ pack DD's bag for my Mom's house
~ finish sorting through the girls' clothes and getting rid of what no longer fits DD1 & stuff I've decided I don't want to keep for DD2 after all. I've had DD2's stuff washed & in the dresser for months.
~ list the dipes & babycarriers I have FSOT so I can raise $$$ to get more bumGenuis 2.0s and a MOBY.
~ sort through DD's toys & put the stuff she doesn't use a lot out in storage or give it to my Mom for her house.
~ change all the sheets
~ give the house a good dusting
~ buy stamps so I can mail out announcements & thank you's after the birth.

ooh, pre-buying stamps sounds like a good idea.

I also realized that I went into the city today and completely failed to pick up birth announcements. Oh well, dh can do it in Feb when he can drive again, or I'll scrape up something around here (we're not super small town, but small enough that it can be hard to find anything nice in large quantities)

I should also wash my slings, and pull out my nursing tops and wash them.

Goodness! There's so much to do, so little time to do it... :
*We just found out the week before Christmas that we're moving....
1. Have to paint entire inside of new house
2. Clean the entire new house - kitchen, bathroom, shampoo carpets....
3. Figure out what to do with the junk the last tenants left at the new house
4. Pack up our apartment
5. Move everything, and set it up
6. Not go into labor while doing this...
7. Buy cloth dipes
8. Get a cosleeper and a change of sheets
9. Clean out borrowed pool and practice filling it
10. Find more waterproof sheets
11. Get a little potty chair (hoping to EC)
12. Get a book about ECing, now that I think about it....
13. Get replacement parts for hand-me-down Pump-In-Style
14. Get some extra towels and old blankets from my mom for the birth
15. Finish reading the Bradley book
16. Get a rocking chair
17. Get a new computer desk & set it up
18. Haven't prepped meals ahead of time, so I'm hoping to keep enough staples on hand for DH to handle it at least for a little while
19. Do change of addresses for everything, and get services switched to new location
20. And lots of other little things that I'm starting to not care if they get done.
I need some prayers to get through this!

Wow! You're one busy mama! That's a lot to have on your plate at this stage in the game. Good luck, I'm sending you lots of energy and patience. Be sure to take some time out to breathe and rest from time to time

Absoutely nothing. I am ready.

Now the baby just needs to do his part and turn for a traditional entrance. I'm going outside on the front porch now to gaze at the full moon and do my moxibustion. Anyone have any birthing sprites they could lend me just for tonight? After all, it is my edd. :

Good luck! All my birthing sprites are yours for the next few days...

well let's see yesterday I cleaned out and washed out the fridge cause I know nobody else will.

I cleaned the tub (ditto)

My mom moved the microwave and cleaned the counter under it and I decluttered the top of it.

I got the baby papasan put together today and got baby clothes from my friend washed. Still have to put those away.

I still have to buy the bar for the bed and put it on so Sophie doesn't fall out. I still have to get her base put in the car for her seat. I still also have to adjust DS's carseats for his height and get the one in the Jeep reinstalled with the latch and all that.
I haven't packed my suitcase for the hospital, but I know where the stuff is. (bought my essential oils too)
I wrote the final check to my doula today and had my last prenatal visit--still will phone, but the next time I see her, I will be in labor!
And I still need some newborn dipes. (unfortunately I'm stuck using stupid sposies till we move and can hook up the w/d )

Thanks. Maybe they'll work sometime this week. They certainly didn't work last night.

I did get baby fully transverse, maybe even tilted downward a little. If I'd had another set of hands I bet I could have got him vertex. DH was watching from the chair and flatly refused to help. Butthead. : It is pretty easy to move baby actually. This is pretty much the only reason I'm holding out hope that he'll either move on his own when he's ready or that when labor starts I'll be able to move him.

Man...
I'm an accountant. #1 finish year end corporate stuff for the company I work for. I have 6 days worth of work, 1 down, 5 to go. This is #1 priority.

As for baby things - we'll get the carseat out of the attic after baby arrives, we'll set the bassinet up after the baby arrives (baby is in our bed anyway), baby clothes are in a tote downstairs, they were put away clean, so why wash them again? I was about to wash them when I thought about the water wasting. So, Dh can bring those upstairs and I'll put them away. Diapers are in the baby's dresser at the foot of our bed, they never made it to a tote after I got them from the changing table.

I'd like to line the dresser drawers and put the baby clothes in there, but if I birthed tomorrow -- it would be okay. This baby has a dresser in our bedroom! The dresser has to be moved out across the hall for birthing and then put back, it will be the changing station on top.

Birthing - (these things I really want and I'm going to do this this coming week)
Pool needs to come down and be washed/ sanitized and checked for leaks.
Supplies need to be put into tote from my dresser drawers.
Infusions of herbs need to be made and frozen.
And mini-herbal infusion tea cubes made for sucking on or chewing up during that final stage of pushing!

This baby has no room (yet, dh is building rooms back downstairs, so within the year). This baby won't be using the changing table (right away) b/c I can not get into the room it is in and keep it clean. I'm trying, but with 2 children in there, it's nearly impossible (very small room). It really isn't going to bother me just now. I'm too uncomfortable and in pain, I won't be in a few weeks and given 2 months after the birth, I can and will get in there.

Things I'd like to do before the arrival--
1)sewing outfits for baby
2)freezemeals for family and single serve GF for boys (have started)
3)GF bread, cookies, muffins, etc in freezer (extras to last at least 2 months)

Make your priorities or you will be frazzled. I've made mine, revised mine and now I'm doing my plan. I also have been keeping my house cleaner and tidier than ever before in my life, I started end of November and now I'm just sailing along keeping it up.
