Does anyone have the Haba fried egg?

We ordered one for ds's stocking and it arrived today. We just opened the package to, um, test it out , and to our surprise, the egg shell is nearly impossible to open. Dh can open it if he tries hard enough and I simply cannot do it (I am not a weakling either). Just wondering if others have found the same thing or if maybe we have a defective one. We can't give it to ds like this.

What material is it? If it is wood, you could try waxing it or sanding it.

I made fried eggs out of felt to fit in plastic Easter eggs, once.

DD got one for her birthday and we have had the same problem. It is nearly impossible for DH and I to get open and DD can't get it open at all. The other problem we've had is the white paint scrapes off the egg shell. All of the other food we have from Haba we have been very happy with.

We have 2...one is more difficult to open than the other. Usually DD can open either, but sometimes I have to get out the rubber grippy jar opener thing.

We have it and had/have the same problem. Dh "fixed" it but simply twisting it together for a while and smoothing it out. But then dd hits it on something (cuz that is how you crack an egg) and it gets bent and dh has to start all over again. Not thrilled with it. But it is worth the effort because dd REALLY likes it. I do have to say, if there was ever a place for plastic, this is one of those times.

it's impossible to open by just about all of us! totally not thrilled with it

We have that same problem here too. Usually ds just gives it to me to open.

I try to just put it half way back on. Almost all the way together, but not quite then he can usually get it open.

We have the all bent out of shape problem. We finally just ditched the shell, which is really no fun.

At Easter, I am going to snag a plastic egg and just put the egg in that.

We had the same problem and the paint chipping problem . DS just doesn't ever want to play with it any more. I'm going to start stalking the Wool Food Market site and try to get one of theirs.

Well I don't know if I should be glad that I am not the only one with the problem or bummed that they made such a poor performing product. Probably more of the latter. I will try twisting it to see if that helps, and if not, I do have some leftover easter eggs somewhere. It would be nice though to have a white or brown egg shell instead of a blue or hot pink one though!

I really like the food at the Wool Food Market. It looks neat. Thanks for mentioning it.

We ditched the shell too, but I like the Easter egg idea! My daughter still loves to make "flied eggs" with it though.

don't dent it at all or it will NEVER open... ours was dented just right to make it literally impossible. however, the fried egg was luckily out...so we use that by itself now.
