Could this be an early sign of a peanut allergy?

Dd doesn't get much in the way of nuts.. we've offered her peanut butter a few times, she has a taste and makes this icky face and tries to wipe it off her tongue. We'd kind of figured it was just the texture she didn't like, but lately I'm starting to wonder if she's reacting to it in her mouth and instinctually spitting it out...

Today she wanted a granola bar and it was one of those nature valley crunchy ones with the thin layer of peanut butter on top.. she's just had a piece of one that was a different flavor and eaten it, so I know it's not the texture of the granola bar itself, and there's such a thin layer of p. butter on the granola bar that it's not enough to goop up the mouth IYKWIM?

Anyways, she reacted the same way when she had a bite of this granola bar and now I'm wondering even more. I'm hoping that if this is what's going on, by avoiding direct nuts that she won't develop problems to foods that have nut oils or whatever in them because right now this is the only thing she reacts to this way. (Unless something gets stuck in her teeth. )

I figured this was the place to ask... if anyone has anything to share I'd really appreciate it. My dd is almost 2.5, was bf up until 23 mos old and no other allergies or eczema if that makes a difference.

Yes, itchy tongue can be a sign of allergy if you think that's what that was. Or it might just be that she doesn't like the taste of peanuts.

Pretty much what I was going to say. It's either an itchy tongue (allergy sign) or she doesn't like it.

I'd probalby stay away from peanuts until she's 3 or 4 nad then try again. good luck.
