can an adult who is fully vaxed become a carrier of a disease if exposed to that disease after vax? in more concrete terms, do i need to worry about my dh bringing back diseases from international travel and exposing our kids to them?

He does not have to travel internationally. He is a carrier no matter what, and so are you. Vaccines at best, protect the vaccinated.
We carry billions of viruses and bacteria as commensal microorganisms in our body. They are a part of us and we depend on them. We need them in the correct proportions.
To vaccinate against 12 or so is to create an imbalance.
What particular disease are you worried about?
Polio? Most people who had polio never even knew they had it but they had antibodies. The reason why we don't see it now is because we don't look for it. We don't test for polio antibodies on a regular basis.

Being a carrier is not necessarily a bad thing. Naturally circulating viruses are good. They act as natural boosters to those who have been previously infected.

In more concrete terms you need to understand what (little they understand of) how the immune system works, what you do to keep it working, and whether or not you are scared it won't do what its supposed to do, if you maintain it properly.

Yes, the vaccinated can be silent carriers for some of these VPD's, but don't worry about it. Because of the fact that it happens like that, that also means those same microbes are floating around here, too. So the international travel is a non-issue.
