Strangeness in the middle of the night.

For the past 3 nights in a row this has happened. I was 37 weeks Wednesday.

I go to bed 9:30-10ish. Sleep fine until about 2am when I wake up craving orange juice like I have never craved anything before. I get up for the oj. I'm feeling really feverish - hot, sweaty, lightheaded. Haven't ever taken my temp then but generally it is a flu type feeling. Queesy too. I have 1 or 2 very loose bowel movements. During the day bm are normal, not like this. Two nights I went straight back to bed although I couldn't fall back asleep for hours. One night I stayed up at the computer for a while. When I get up in the morning I'm tired and a little groggy from not sleeping well but otherwise feel just fine.

Anyone else having weirdness in the wee hours? Any idea what it is or why?

I can't say that mine sounds quite as bad as yours, but for the past week I wake up sometime around 3am (after going to sleep between 10 and 11 usually) and I feel a little queasy - dont consistantly have diahrea but have a few times - am pretty sweaty, especially last night (although I guess I never thought that maybe I have a temp) and then when I go back to bed I never really sleep well for the rest of the night (i wake for work at about 7am). There was just one night actually that this didnt happen in the past week. I cant say that i have the OJ craving or really any type of craving, other than just for some type of liqued, but I always drink water as I have such bad acid that orange juice is out of the question!!

Maybe that means we are going to go into labor soon?!?! (i know, wishful thinking) It is annoying though, as it totally messes me up for the next day and makes me some kind of tired zombie....

Me too!
Waking up at 2-3 am and staying awake for an hour or two...a few twinges of nausea...the usual thirst.
I noted it too and it IS weird to hear others say the same thing...

I've had similar symptoms for the last 2 1/2 weeks. I wish I could ask the baby what is going on :

You guys can sleep for four hours at a time????!!!

That isn't fair! I sleep in 1.5 hour intervals... cause that is when I am up peeing... it is so annoying.

I have been waking up extremely sweaty though and I have been feeling sick to my stomach a lot at night as well...

I don't put much faith in it meaning anything because the last two times I was pregnant I got "flu like" symptoms for about two or more weeks before I went into labor...

Sounds like low blood sugar to me, and that could be why you're craving something sweet and fast-acting like OJ. I've had this happen to me a few times recently, too. I hate the light, nagging nausea. When you get up, eat something protein-y with your OJ, like peanut butter toast or some cheese. It's funny that there are several of us experiencing this.

This has been happening to me for the past two months. It is really awful. Must be a hormonal thing.

I haven't had the food/juice cravings but I have also had the queasy feeling in the middle of the night. I lay there (not sleeping) and feel yucky. It often starts to some degree before I go to bed and by the middle of the night it's pretty bad. By morning though, I feel fine! I would LOVE to hear that flu like symptoms are a sign of labor in the next couple week! 38 weeks here I come

I most certainly DO NOT sleep for hours at a time...
Typically night:
Asleep by 8 p.m.
Up at 10 to pee and back to bed
Up at 12 to pee
Up at 2 to pee
Awake from 2-3
Asleep from 3-5
Up at 5 to pee
Maybe go back to sleep for one more hour...

This does not include the tossing/turning to get comfortable either.

Similar things going on here, but I'm not craving OJ, I'm craving Jabongs/Pomelos which I can't find here, especially this time of year. I found some really sweet grapefruits at Krogers so I'm up at 4am peeling and eating a giant grapefruit. Then of course I'm having a couple of loose stools (I know, way too TMI) but I know it's all that fiber and vitamin C! So I'm up to pee then up for grapefruit(and a pee) then up to pee again. I swear that I get more sleep the month after baby arrives than the month before!

I wake up several times a night to pee, and usually at around the 4am pee session, I feel vaguely nauseous, extremely hot and sweaty (even when it's really cold) and ravenously hungry! But, I am so tired I ignore it and go back to bed (I do drink water all night long though, like it's going out of style). Not counting all the interruptions, I have been sleeping about 11 hours a night, and then needing 2 naps during the day! I feel great when I wake up, but am a zombie within 2 hours or so. Weird.

That sounds exactly like my nights!! I go to bed at 9 and I am up by 10:30 to pee... then it is every 1 1.5 hours... I always know what time it is before I look at the clock because I remember what time it was when I went back to sleep the last time!

And I agree with Blastomom... I get way more sleep the month after the birth as compared to the month before!

I agree with blood sugar...

the nausea may be from chugging the oj? Try taking some back to bed with you and sip on it for awhile...

I dont' think it is low blood sugar. I eat a hearty snack before bed. Usually a large bowl of oatmeal w/ fruit, sometimes pb on raisin bread toast and soymilk. The nausea is before I have the oj so the oj isn't causing it.

So many of us are having this problem that I'll just assume it is hormonal. At least I don't have to get up to pee. :

Me either! I was worrying that all these moms are getting up every hour and I am only getting up once every two or three (sometimes four) hours : I was going to do a seperate post about it!

I've had bad insomnia... been waking up at 2 am every night and being up for at least an hour and a half, two hours... it sucks because in the morning I feel more like I've had 2 naps than any real sleep (since goodness knows the segments of sleep are so interrupted with pee breaks and waking-up-to-roll-over breaks and heartburn. :

At least we'll be used to the schedule when Baby comes! I guess it would be worse to go from a good solid 8 hours to waking up constantly...

I just got up for the day. I slept 7.5 hours more or less straight (had to roll over, switch position, etc.) but didn't have to get up to pee. And I drank quite a bit last evening. When I did get up it wasn't a bee line to the bathroom either. I went, but I didn't have to rush in there.

After a night like this I just always worry that I'll go into labor and just be too exhausted to do it.
