Anyone else making a Contented Child basket?

I've been gathering stuff. Some of it's been hard to find (where do I get a wooden egg & egg cup? I'm trying not to spend $$$ on this stuff.) I thought if anyone else is interested in doing one, we could share sources and "extras." I got a bunch of things at the dollar store. I have a handful of plastic curlers. I'd rather send them out than throw them away.

any wood shop or michaels would have a wooden egg.

Can you explain a little more about it. I am interested.

The name of this post caught my attention, so I ran off to Google.

"A Treasure Basket gives babies a rich and stimulating start to their lives. An idea conceived over thirty years ago, it is a low, rigid sided basket into which natural and household objects are placed and available to your child for play.

Each Treasure Basket has the same purpose - to offer experiences which use all five senses: "

Looks like fun, but some of the items do look like they could be hard to locate.
Here is the list:

I've gotten almost everything at this point, so I thought I'd offer a couple of warnings. Some of this stuff is not "baby safe," and you'll need to keep an eye on your dc while she plays with it. I had virually none of it lying around, so I bought new, and just used my best judgement. The brand new, uncut keys are very sharp and have left tiny scratches on my dd's face. The wooden spoon, pastry brush, and whisk all have pointy enough handles that she could poke herself in the eye pretty good. The curlers I bought are small enough to go in her mouth (although I don't think they're a choking hazard.) And the bells are small enough to go in, even though I strung them. So just keep this in mind as you're putting the stuff together. I will say though that both my 6 mo dd and 3 yr ds are very interested in all of it! I tend to give my kids things to play with that are not baby safe, but I keep an eye on them while they explore it. Many interesting things will fit into a toilet paper tube! Also, if you're thinking about buying chain for them to play with, the minimum amount my hardware store would sell me is one foot, but it could be cut into 2 nice 6" segments.

I've heard that keys have lead in them, so I wouldn't feel comfortable with a baby playing with them. Alot of these items seem a little dangerous for a baby, but maybe mine are just more into trying to eat objects than some. As much as I like the idea, I have no clue how that company is going to stay in business selling baskets full of items that could be choked on, etc marketed as toys for babies. JMHO of course!

This part on their site cracks me up "THIS PRODUCT IS INTENDED FOR USE BY CHILDREN WITH IMMATURE JUDGEMENT. THEREFORE, SUPERVISION IS REQUIRED AT ALL TIMES."

Umm, the photos on their site are all of babies....kinda thought all babies had "immature judgement"

the chain in the picture looks like a dog choke chain...that's probably easier to obtain if you hardware store doesn't want to sell short lengths.
