I've never heard of DPT, before.
DTaP contains acellular pertussis...http://www.vaccineshoppe.com/US_PDF/...4757_12.03.pdf
Quote:
The acellular pertussis vaccine components are produced from Bordetella pertussis cultures grown in Stainer-Scholte medium1
modified by the addition of casamino acids and dimethyl-beta-cyclodextrin. The fimbriae types 2 and 3 are extracted from the bacterial
cells and the pertussis toxin, FHA and PRN are prepared from the supernatant. These proteins are purified by sequential filtration, saltprecipitation,
ultrafiltration and chromatography. Pertussis toxin is inactivated with glutaraldehyde and FHA is treated with
formaldehyde. The individual antigens are adsorbed separately onto aluminum phosphate.

The DTP contains the whole, inactivated pertussis bacteria, while the DTaP uses only parts of the bacteria . (The "a" in DTaP stands for acellular, which means there are no whole (cell) bacteria in the vaccine.)

DTP was responsible for a lot more vax reactions than aP. Though my DD reacted similarly to both
