Re-Dying Wool (diaper covers)??

I just bought some used Aristocrat wool covers that have already been dyed once. Is it possible to dye them again? Would I need to strip/take away the old dye first? I am concerned about the integrity of the cover...will re-dying weaken the cover and/or felt it? I was thinking of dying them a darker color..like navy blue.

Or should I just leave them alone if I am worried about ruining the cover?

Thanks!!

So, I did it! If you want to read HOW I wrote out everything in my journal: http://tiramisu-milano.livejournal.com/ Just scroll down a bit...the entry is titled JEN's CRAFT CORNER.

I was hoping that they would come out a bit darker. And they were a bit splotchy. But I think that was because some of the lanolin was still on the wool. I was so scared about felting that I don't think I washed them good enough before dying. Or, because they had already been dyed once, the color didn't stick in some places? Anyways, I think they look better than they did. Especially for a boy. Maybe they will look better when they are dried completely?
