What to watch for?

My fifth child is almost 4 weeks old. None of my others have ever shown any sign of allergies, nor have I. This baby has a different father however, who has a very strong family history of food allergies. My partner is himself allergic to melons of all kinds, tomatoes, peanuts, soy, avocado, most fruits except bananas and grapes, and more. He eats these things anyway (I think he sees it as a weakness if he were to avoid them) so he has constant reactions such as sinus and chest congestion and mental/emotional responses.

He has 10 brothers and sisters, and some of the other allergies in these siblings include potatoes, citrus, apples, basically name it and someone in the family is allergic to it. They even get hives from touching the foods in question. Their parents have no known or apparent allergies.

I have zero experience here. What do I watch for in my exclusively breastfed baby? I avoid peanuts but not most other foods.

This baby has acne, which none of my other babies had. I was worried that it was a reaction to something so I have altered what his skin contacts with no change in his skin. I was about to start altering my diet but then I got the flu so I haven't eaten anything at all in 2 days (talk about elimination diet lol) and again, no change in Finnian's skin. I suppose he just has baby acne.

The most common symptoms of food allergy in a bf infant are colic, reflux, and mucousy (sometimes bloody as well) stools. I hope that you don't ever have to worry about it! Hope you're feeling better!
