My 11 year old son; whom I have had previous concerns about food allergies before; recently discovered that when he eats peanuts he has a case of Anal itching. I know, poor little guy! Being a health educator I told him what it was and he did not believe me until he waited afew days and ate some peanuts.
Here are my concerns, I worked for a dermatology office and did some study on allergies. Peanuts seemed to be one of the most dangerous because of the risk of anaphil....shock (excuse spelling) Usually I would tell the child "okay No more peanuts!" but in this case I know that some allergies to food are related to other foods, and can develope seriously over time. Should I go to Kaiser and demand a scratch test? I just hate using Western Medicine, but at this point and with his history of strange body odor, frequent urination, and mood swings, I am starting to wonder of an allergy test would be the answer to ending a label I have put on this child as being VERY SENSITIVE AND MOODY!
