Thanks, Yonit.

What is most exciting about having your first baby?

I'd have to say EVERYTHING! Starting a family, moving forward with our lives, looking forward to being a mom and definitely bringing joy to our families. This with be the first grandchild in both families, and it has been much anticipated. (Read: this kid is going to receive so much attention, no one will put he or she down and the baby won't walk until it is 2!)

How did you and DH meet?

It is a VERY long story, but the short version is that during law school I had an offer for a summer job at his law firm. I did not work for his firm, but we met through that process and started dating. He's hates the story because he thinks it makes him look like the guy who was checking out all of the chicks coming in. That was 7 years ago and we're married, etc. so I think he has gotten over it!

I remember you were looking for a new job a while ago, what happened with that?

Ah, yes. I continued with the search a bit and nothing really fit -- although, I still have something in the running and made it to the final round of interviews last week. We'll see how it goes. I'm still know that my future is not where I am currently, but I have been less disheartened about my current situation. With a baby coming, I have so much to look forward to. Plus, since I've stuck it out, I'll receive a nice bonus for this year and am entitled to a fully-paid maternity leave (including any unused vacation) which will last until next June. Although I'd rather be settled working some place where I feel happy and see a future, I can't complain about these benefits and hopefully will figure things out. Everything happens for a reason and I am confident that in the end it will work out just fine.

What is your favorite book?

This is a hard one. I'm not good at favorites. I really love John Irving's books (Prayer for Owen Meany, Cider House Rules, Widow for One Year), but I haven't read anything by him in a long time.

What part of motherhood do you most look forward too and what part are you most worried about?

What part of motherhood do you most look forward too and what part are you most worried about?

I don't know if I can describe in words what about motherhood I'm most looking forward to. Maybe it could be articulated as creating a person, which will bring me and my husband even closer together as a family, having a relationship with that person and watching him or her grow.

As far as worries ... I'm worried about a couple of things. I worry about bringing a child into a world that has so much negative. I worry about not being able to be as good of a mother as my mother has been. I worry about being able to be the kind of mother I want to be and still have a career. Just to name a few ....

If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be and why?
What have you enjoyed the most about pregnancy and what part do you think you will miss the most?
How many kids do you want and what would be the perfect spacing between them?

Not sure where. I was born and raised in NYC (where we live now) and my husband is from South Africa (where we have lots of family and friends). I'm partial to the north east, but wouldn't mind it if something brought us to South Africa for a year or two.

What have you enjoyed the most about pregnancy and what part do you think you will miss the most?

I really have enjoyed being pregnant. The things I've enjoyed the most are witnessing the miracle of my own body changing without it really changing my every day life and how my husband and I have bonded over the excitement of pregnancy and having our first baby.

I don't know yet what I'll miss -- as much as I've loved this time, I feel that there is so much to look forward to with respect to the end result! I guess I'll probably miss having a taught belly!! I'm preparing myself mentally to never have that again .

How many kids do you want and what would be the perfect spacing between them?

I want at least two, but I don't want to limit myself just yet. When I suggest maybe more than two, my husband starts to look at me sideways!

My sister and I are 20 months apart -- we were always two years apart in school -- and I thought that was a great separation. My husband and his brother are three years apart and also like the age difference. If I can do something in between, I think that would be ideal.

What attracted you to law? What do you imagine will be the biggest challenge balancing work and motherhood?

What is your favorite genre of movie (a bit easier than favorite movie)?

What is your favorite thing about your living space?

Do you have any hobbies / sports / interests (well, of course you have interests in something, but you know what I mean)

Jilly -- very good questions.

What attracted you to law? What do you imagine will be the biggest challenge balancing work and motherhood?

Good question -- one I am still asking myself! From the time I was little, people always told me that I'd be a lawyer. And, I just sort of followed this path here -- didn't really know what to do after college and so I went to law school. That's not to say that I don't like being a lawyer; in fact, I like it very much. But, I wouldn't say that it is my passion (which brings me to your next question).

I think balancing work and motherhood will be exceedingly difficult. This profession (and, in particular, the way I practice now) is NOT conducive to being the kind of mother I'd like to be. Working nights and weekends, eating 3meals a day at my desk, being at your client's beck and call, etc. are all the norm. My parents always worked, but they were always around for us. We ate dinner together almost every night, they helped with homework, they came to games, etc. While I may be able to "outsource" taking care of my baby in certain ways for the first couple of years (not saying I'd want to, but feeding, putting to bed, etc. may be able to be done by someone else without there necessarily being a lasting impact), there are things that I won't ever feel comfortable outsourcing, particularly in a couple of years.

What is your favorite genre of movie (a bit easier than favorite movie
On a lighter note, I think my favorite genre would be)?

I really am a sucker for romantic comedies. I like movies that make you feel good while they entertain you. I also love period pieces about performers (Ray, Walk the Line, can't wait to see dream girls) and sports movies (Remember the Titans, Rudy, Friday Night Lights).

What is your favorite thing about your living space?

Well -- NYC apartments leave a lot to be desired when it comes to space! I grew up in one, so I am used to it. I do love our apartment now, which we moved into almost 2 1/2 years ago -- because it has some luxuries that other NYC apartments don't have. We have an open kitchen, so although the kitchen is small by any other standards other than NYC, it allows me to be a part of the action in the living room/dining room even while cooking (something I never did before moving into this apartment for this very reason!). And, we have a second bedroom -- which I feel very fortunate to have since a lot of my friends have started their families in a one bedroom apartment. Now, we've been using this room as a study and throwing all other sorts of junk in there. We have yet to do anything about it : but it is on the agenda as a must do asap.

Oh -- and we have a walk-in closet!!! I had never had anything other than a small little closet, so to me this is the ultimate luxury!

Do you have any hobbies / sports / interests (well, of course you have interests in something, but you know what I mean)

For hobbies -- I LOVE fitness. I teach spinning and kickboxing classes (still doing it now!) and love other types of working out as well. Although I get paid for it, I look at it as a hobby. I used to be more crafty, but it has all gone by the wayside. I do knit, and hope to pick it up again soon!
