Embroidering on heavy nap

I just got my first embroidery machine and I'm making personalized throws. The throws I bought are very very soft and have a med to heavy nap. The letters end up looking messy even with stabilizer underneath. I read somewhere about using a spray on stabilizer on top of the fabric to help make the embroidery neater. Any suggestions? Ideas?

TIA

i avoid spray ons because you never know how they will leave the top of the fleece, but solvy or a similar water soluble product will help immensely with messy letters, and if you want, using the spray adhesive to tack your backing on might prevent some shifting if the material is particularly stretchy- good luck!

This is what works for me. I use a fairly heavy tear-away stabilizer on the bottom. I hoop the stabilizer only. I use only enough Sulky KK 2000 to position the throw onto the hooped stabilizer. Once you get a few stitches sewn, you don't have to worry about it moving. I always top with Heavy Duty water soluble stabilizer. I am currently using Superior Threads brand. It feels quite thick, according to the package, it is 76 microns. DO NOT wet it, just lay it on top of the throw. When I am finished, I do not get it wet. Most of it can be gently removed with fingernails or tweezers. If you wet it, be prepared to wash the throw in order to remove all of it.
