DH and I put the bucket on the cart. One of us is always with the cart while the other one is shopping. I've heard the cart can tip over, so we make sure one hand is on her at all times. For us, its a pain to take her out of the bucket, put on the wrap, put her back in the carseat, bundle her up for the cold, etc. If we had a convertible carseat it would be different.

Me also. He stays awake now for the drive there and back and during the shopping now, so it's an adventure for everyone!
First I get a cart (I always park near the cart return). Then I remove 2 yo and put him in the cart. Then 4 yo gets out and stands holding the cart. Then baby gets put into the carrier and off we go. I reverse the process upon getting back to the car (although Nate isn't always happy about waiting for me to load the groceries into the trunk, or when I unload the bags into the house at home).

Aha! But you have DH with you. Just me, the bucket and the cart? No way!

No offense meant, however. I just have to do everything by my lonely, and the thought of the cart tipping over is terrifying. Plus, in GA, it's 75 degrees this week, so cold has not yet been a factor.

I think I might need to buy a mei tai. Any hints, you super shopper?!

Heh. Start at the For Sale or Trade board at thebabywearer.com, and read the first 6 pages or so, because the board moves fast and some good deals get left behind 5 days later. If there's nothing there, try eBay. When buying, look at the MT and think about if your babe likes to look out, look in, have legs out or in, etc.

My first MT is a Two-Hearts carrier from eBay, about $35, and is thin and smaller, great for travel and keeping in the diaper bag. My second is mama-made, specifically picked for hiking, with a narrower bottom for her legs to stick out when I carry her front-facing and a soft minkee liner. And the AngelPack has great structure but a large body, so we'll probably wait until Cleo is a little bigger.

If you haven't tried one before, don't spend more than $30, because with careful shopping you can find one at that price. My friend has an annacarrybaby from eBay, about $25, and she likes it fine. Although it is a longer and larger body, she was able to pinch the fabric to get her son's legs out when he was smaller.

Hope that helps-- MTs are our savior for long walks and hikes, plus both your arms are totally free. :

LOL that's me!!! And I don't know how other mom's do it too. I don't put the bucket on top of the cart, that just makes me too nervous, so usually I put the bucket in the cart and pack the groceries around him. That works ok until they are in bags, so then I put him across the top of the groceries and walk along side the cart on the way out. It is a royal pain. I also tried the stroller and shopping cart but then he was unhappy so I was carrying the baby pushing the stroller and pulling the cart, terrible. I ended up taking the stroller to the car, putting the bucket on the cart and kept carrying him. I can't wait till he's old enough to sit in the cart with a protective cover. It will be much easier. Plus it will be warmer then.

I wear Lucas pretty much everywhere we're out. I couldn't at the beginning due to the c-section, but now we don't go anywhere without one.

He's 4 months today and we're pretty close to not being able to do the cradle hold in our Peanut Shell which makes me sad as it as so easy to do. We do the hip carry in this if he's awake and I need to make a quick trip.

The mei tei or a wrap for longer trips. Now that he can go legs out we're loving the mei tei more.

I don't usually wear him indoors as this is a really small apartment. He's either in arms or lap, or in the bouncy chair when I need some hands free time.

Usually only time we use the stroller is when I go to the mall. It's either a place to put him when I'm trying on clothes or a place to put all of the bags. Strollers are too hard to use when going grocery shopping or to pretty much any other store and our baby bucket is bigger than most (great side impact protection) which means that it only fits inside the cart. And only the big carts, which means the carts at Trader Joes and Whole Foods are out.

Sometimes I use the stroller at lunch when I'm out with friends so I have a place to set him once the food has arrived since I can't pass him to DH.

Louis gets worn everywhere - all the time, unless, of course, his big sister is carrying him! She loves to carry him. I love my Rockin' Baby sling. It was my big purchase for this baby (besides pictures and the midwife of course!). I still wear my OTSBHs pretty often. We had ds1's bday party at the pool, and I wore Louis in my water sling. I think he's a little bit too small for the Bei Bei yet - I love that thing though. It's so cool! I love baby carriers. I am really having trouble believing that this is my last baby to carry!
