Baby Acne

Hello. I know this was brought up in another one of the threads. But...my dd has had baby acne for about 2 weeks now. It started on her face and then now its also on her head and on the back of her neck. I have been using mild soaps and body washes. I thought that might be causing it. The skin on her cheeks is kinda dry. We are using lotion.
How long does this last?? She is 5 1/2 weeks old.
Anyone else dealing with this fun stuff?

Stop using everything on your baby!!!! No soap, nothing to wash her with except water, no lotion, if she is dry use sweet almond oil in VERY small amounts!!!! Their little bodies have a very had processing all the stuff in commercial products, even the natural ones that use essential oils and all that. I have had two kids already with major skin issues and I have certainly learned that less is by far more when it comes to treating it!

And baby acne comes and goes for months...IME.

Baby acne is due to the mommy hormones in babes system...
It does come and go...some babes get it, some dont, but it is natural/normal...and you don't need to do anything special to 'fix it'...in fact, do what BathrobeGoddess said--stop using products! Soap dries out their skin...

Zeben has it too, though it's already gotten MUCH better, two weeks after it first appeared. I remember that with my older boys, they both had clear skin again by the time they were 9 weeks old (I remember because that's when we finally took the picture for the birth announcement). I think it generally lasts about 4 weeks. If it is lasting really long, or spreads down onto the chest, it could be partially due to a food allergy. One of my boys had it terribly, and it wouldn't go away, so I eliminated dairy and that took care of it (and he became a much happier baby).

HTH!

Ditto lexbeach. with my so, it stuck around for months and spread to his chest... found out through elimination diets that he was allergic to the citrus I was eating.

Mikki this time just has some spots here and there - usually in clusters - on her face... especially on her forehead, chin and around her nose. I've been squirting her spots with a little breatsmilk a few times a day and letting it air dry. Those spots are usually gone the next day... and new ones pop up in a day or so. The number of new ones is slowly becoming less and less.

Well I don't think its anything from my diet, and i dont think its an allergic reaction. Its ONLY on her head. There is no rash or spots anywhere else on her body. It stops at her neck. Soo hmmm.
I will try to just bath her with water..no soaps or shampoos.
Thanks!! i hope this helps.
