Elimination diet..results when?

I've been four full days without any dairy (hidden and whole). When can I expect DS's eczema to get better? It seems just as bad as it ever was and I'm starting to worry he might be allergic to soy too, but my soy intake hasn't increased dramatically at all. Is it just too soon to see results?

And why does DS have to have allergies? It just doesn't seem fair. No one in our family has food allergies. I'm sorry for the whine, but I hate this so much. And I feel so guilty for wanting DS to be "normal"

Oh, I feel for you mama! My dd has had mucousy poops ever since she was born and I am now on a dairy free- diet also. Today is day 7 and no improvement yet. I am pretty sure that it takes a good 2-3 weeks to get out of the system completely and then can take up to another 2 weeks to get out of her system. I know, it completely sucks! I am right there with you on that.
I am going to try and cut wheat out also, to see if that is it- what ever shall I eat?

I was off dairy for a month and ds didn't get totally better (allergic colitis symptoms). Chances are he's sensitive to other foods in addition to the dairy. The same could be true for your baby, but you really need to give it a little longer before drawing conclusions. Give it at least a couple of weeks.

I know it's hard dealing with this stuff. Hopefully you'll get some answers and your baby will get better.

Since it takes so long to see results w/ dairy, I would just cut out soy and eggs as well. They are the other biggies in infants. Then if the baby is clear in 2 weeks you can trial to see if you go back to eating them.

Caden's Mom, I feel exactly the same as you, really sad about our dd's eczema.
I am now on an elimination diet - 7 days without dairy... and a whole bunch of other things. No results yet : I agree with Wendy to just bite the bullet and eliminate whatever you think might be to blame. That way you can get it over and done with, hopefully get your dc better and start introducing things back (rather than keep shooting in the dark and eliminate more and more with no end in sight). At least that is what I hope will happen for us :
to in this.

I am SOOOO sorry you are dealing with this. It can be SO hard. DD is allergic to wheat/gluten, cows milk, tree nuts AND eggs (she is 2.5). We started cutting things out when she was about 15-18 months (although just found out about the eggs recently).

Dairy can take the longest like the PPs have said. Hang in there! And if you need recipes, let me know~!

You also might check if goats milk and cheese can work. DD is allergic to cows milk and can't seem to tolerate it at all. She can consume as much goats milk and cheese as she wants though. It has to do with the size of the protein.

Good Luck!
