So I got a job with WIC doing peer breastfeeding thinking I can use the hours towards becoming a certified lactation consultant. They said that they would send me to a lactation counselor training if I'm interested so that I can become a clc. Im wondering, what exactly is the difference? Is there a difference in what I able to do with each of the certifications? It seems that becoming a lactation couselor will be way quicker and cheaper, but I'm wondering if it will be enough. My intention is to start a private practice doing herbal consultations for pregnancy, postpartum and infancy as well a nutrition counseling, lactation support and doula work.
