Any homeschooling groups in northern Ohio?

I am planning on homeschooling my 41/2 yr. old ( and 2 yr. old) .

I am in northern Ohio between Toledo and Cleveland. The only homeschooling group in my area is a very fundamentalist / christian based group. Just too structured and biblical for me. I am willing to drive to whereever, just to find like minded homeschooling groups for support and group activities/field trips, etc..

Can anyone help me or suggest how to go about finding groups in my area?

Thanks,

Carol

Thanks for the reply.

I checked out the website. Its for Catholic homeschooling support. Not really what I'm looking for.

I'm looking for a non-christian based group. Is there anyone else with any other suggestions?

Hey Carol!

Move to Illinois.

Glad to hear you're taking the homeschooling plunge.

Check out OHEN. It is the Ohio chapter of the National organization HEN. I think it stands for Home Education Network. They are not religious and accepting of all, even unschoolers.

HI Carol,
I live on the east side of Cleveland and I am going to hs my ds age 6 in the fall. I would also recommend looking in to OHEN. Their website is www.ohiohomeeducators.net They have a group that meets on the west side of cleveland. They offer monthly "getting started meetings" and also monthly "mom's night out" meetings. There are no religious affiliations with this group. It is only $6 to join and you'll recieve a newsletter with all kinds of opportunites to get together with other moms and "field trips" for the kids!
Hope this helps!

Middle of the road homeschooling

We have the begginings of a group in Toledo, OH. We all agree that none of the groups meet our needs, and we are creating our own. We are a very diverese group and plan on just co-oping for lessons and meeting for field trips. We have teachers, nurses, musicians and more.

You are welcome to join us!
