Quick question: hot packs

I really didn't want to go to Walmart, so instead of using feed corn, I got cracked corn to fill my hot/cold packs. It seems very dusty. Does anyone know if cracked corn will hold the heat? Thank you. By the way, these should go in the mail tomorrow, so if you happen to have experience with this, could you respond asap please?

I use oatmeal for my hot packs..some use rice. I just love the aroma it gives when it is warmed up and seems to keep the heat longer than rice for some reason.

We just made sox buddies for all my kids cousins (all 26 of them). We used rice (long grain white works best, brown makes funky smells), buckwheat and millit. Don't use flax, the oils go rancid attract bugs :yuck

We mixed the grains in a big bowl, put in some orange peel (cut into small pieces), cloves, cinnamon (chopped small) and vanilla. It smelles HEAVENLY and the kids had a ball making them and decorating them.

Of course we all made one for ourselves. Just tie the top of the sock and you've got a great heat pack!
